Our Lady of Guadalupe: Mother of the Civilization of Love Hardcover – August 4, 2009

This book is a really great introduction to the devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe. The authors tell the story of Saint Juan Diego and the apparitions that occurred on Tepayac hill. The content of the book then continues to explain the miracles of the canonization of Saint Juan Diego as well as the scientific studies done on the Tilma. The point of Anderson makes is that the Blessed Mother going to lead her people into a civilization of love. I think that book is very well written and it kept my attention.

An inspirational read. Well worth the time for someone of the Catholic faith or someone who wishes to increase their knowledge about Our Lady of Guadalupe. It follows with Church teachings and is worth the time to end you day on a positive note with this book. We have kept it and put it ont he shelf with our other religious books so we may return to it in the future. A must read for those of faith.

This was such a beautiful book and enjoyable read! The book was very informative and detailed! It doesn't just explain the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe,but also explains who Juan Diego was. I particularly enjoyed reading about the connection of Our Lady of Guadalupe to the Indigenous people of Mexico which is rarely or never spoken of. This piece of knowledge connects as to why the Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe is so sacred and so powerful!

Very good read. The explanation of the unity of the Americas is profound. The richness of this book is tangible and reminded me of the need to 'love my neigbor'!

Shares the research that provides historical details not often found - with actual sources and full footnotes. That is just one thing I love about the book. Overall, it provides the context for understanding the faith of millions.and hopefully, millions more.

This book is very helpful toward a good understanding of the apparitions at Tepeyac, Mexico and the spirituality which issues from them. It enlightens the reader concerning the actual history of the events and applies this understanding in genuinely helpful ways. I highly recommend it.

Around mid December, I was discussing Our Lady of Guadalupe with a friend. She was discussing both the Mass at our parish with mariachi band and a documentary she had seen that showed the tilma after the cleaning accident miraculously untouched on the image. I realized that despite being an American Catholic who should know things about our patroness in this particular apparition, I really knew about nothing beyond it happened. So I set out to find a book about this. This book's first half or so is exactly that, but then it takes a turn to be more focused on Mary as Mediatrix (never used the word but a light theological discussion). The second half did try to make it specific to the Virgin at Guadalupe. So I am not disappointed as I did learn a lot about the apparition and the tilma, but it was more than I had intended. But then a little dose of Mary as Mother of us all is never a bad thing.

I learned much more than I had anticipated. The author's suggestions for citizens of the Americas would solve our immigration issues and revitalize our parishes. This action would then reverberate around the world, and just as in Juan Diego's time a massive conversion could occur that would transform humanity.Vivat Jesus,Kurt

The book is very attractively bound and would make a lovely gift. It also has a tremendous amount of detail without becoming complex or boring. It is very well researched and written and I am sure it will be a blessing to anyone who wants to know more about this incredibly important apparition of Mary: it's continuing purpose and deepening relevance for all peoples at this auspicious time.
