It's very decent if you have reasonable expectation
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. For a sub $100 HD video camera, this is as good as it gets for several reasons. This is marketed toward enthusiasts and beginning video makers with a budget. For the price paid, you can invest the leftover toward better lighting and handheld stabilizer, which will help the final product better. I upload an HD version sample of the recording and also several test shots of the photo mode of the product. The raw color is vivid but you can add more contrast in post production in my opinion. The only downsize to this is its max SD Card is 32GB so you won't be able to record super long video, so do keep that in mind. The maximum length for this camera with a 32GB card is about 2 hour and 30 minutes. Most importantly, the reason that you should get this over a 4K action camera is due to the ability to have better recording with either the included microphone, or an aftermarket one. I will use this for my Behind-the-scenes of my photoshoots so it'll just be on a tripod.

Low Quality Video, Questionable Audio
I've shot a couple videos with this camera, and it's okay. Get this camera if just want to use something to do some simple home videos, and for some reason don't want to use a cell phone. I originally got the video to make YouTube videos, and have now decided against it, as my iPhone 7 takes significantly better video, even after I setup a lot of special lighting. The videos definitely aren't HD quality, they remind me of VHS videos you used to see in the early 90's on America's Funniest Home Videos.Additionally, the sound quality isn't very good, although the shotgun mic makes it a little better, but can easily fall off the camera if you aren't careful. To improve this I tried to use a lavilier microphone setup for this camera that works for my other devices, and for some reason, the only microphone that seems like it'll work work is the one included with this camera. For the price, it's pretty hard to complain about this camera. I recommend it if for some reason you only need a low budget stand alone video camera. The software menu on this camera is also very confusing, and it's not easy to toggle between record/play modes.

A camcorder that has many of the features...
What I like most about this camcorder is that the pictures and videos are clear and a high quality. I did set both to the highest quality in the settings. With 8 mega pixel CMOS image sensor it records 30fps movies in 1080p and 60fps in 720p resolution. You can capture vibrant and extremely realistic images; Ideal gift for amateurs and beginners to take selfies and start filming. It has built-in and external microphone. The external microphone enhances sound recording volume and reduces noise. It comes with a remote control,no one will miss any precious moment(Within 10 meters). I also very much like that both the camera setting and the picture and video settings have so may options to choose from. The settings available are the same as much more expensive camcorders. You are provided with two batteries so that you can switch them if you run low on power. In addition, a remote control, a USB cable for charging, a case, and an external microphone are included. The remote control works quite well and would come in handy if you put the camcorder on a tripod and want to control the camcorder remotely.

Your cell phone likely captures better video than this camera.
I have no idea why there are so many positive reviews for this thing. Maybe in 2004 I would have recommended it, but with advances in technology, I cannot now, especially for the price. To be clear: this camera lives up to the specifications listed in the product description. However, BE SURE that this is exactly what you want. If you’re used to any modern mid-range cell phone camera or better, you’ll be disappointed with this one. There is NO autofocus, so if you aren’t filming anything nearby or you plan to move the camera AT ALL, you could end up with some blurry footage. Also, there is NO optical zoom, which, to be fair, isn't found on modern cell phones either. But optical zoom should be expected on any dedicated video camera. Please examine the videos posted by other reviewers carefully, and let the videos (not the commentary on the videos) speak for themselves. I would provide a video as well, but I have already returned the camera. The only reason I would keep something like this would be for surveillance footage, not for anything I would want to publish. If you're a YouTuber, you'd do better to just use your cell phone.

Just another flashy/wordy ripoff
If you have anything newer than an iphone 4, save your money (I'm being 100% serious). This camera was a complete rip off and has no modern HD features, or special sound recording microphone capabilities, and is very confusing to use. The video and sound quality are not as advertised, even when setup in great conditions. This product belongs in the early 2000's- maybe. Save your money and just either invest in a quality camcorder or just get any modern smartphone, you'll be much more grateful in the long run and i promise you will have better video quality and content.

I returned camera It might be OK if you can figure it out.
Yes, I returned the camera. The sales literature posted on Amazon contained as much or more information as the owner's manual. It came with two batteries but there was not independent charger. Apparently I had to charge the batteries routing power through the camera. There was no clear description in the owner's manual, that found, about how to do this. I decided to return the camera as a bad decision on my part rather than fiddle around with and try to figure out the ins and out of the camera. I actually do read owner's manuals.

No Full HD nor HD for me!
Purchased this on prime day. The videos are not recording at Full HD or HD at all for me. I've tried every setting I could find in the menu. At first I thought it needed more light indoors so provided more but NOT. Tested it outside, the same, zoomed looking videos and pictures both in and outdoors. It is like I'm shooting video and photos through a magnifying glass. Everything is magnified but the W/T setting is set at normal, not zoom. The majority of the reviews claim this unit gives "great" pictures and videos at HD. Maybe I received a defective item. Can someone share a setting that they claim gives HD and great pictures. I'll try it/them and if not working a refund will be requested.
