A casual read and not super informative
As a Frasier and Kelsey Grammer fan, I was hoping for lots of behind the scenes details from this book. It does have some, but a LOT of the book is quoting scenes from the show. As someone who's watched through the entire series four times, I don't need to be reminded of specific scenes, I would rather have new information about the cast or production that I've never heard. I started the book but never finished it, just lost interest.

Very Enjoyable
Though it only goes through three seasons, it was written by someone who was there from the beginning with intimate knowledge which includes interviews with both actors, creaters, as well as, the writers of the show from the first images and on. Wish it was written later where it could include the whole series but was still very informative and enjoyable.

I still thought is was a good book to have in order to understand a little ...
Meaty, it still seemed sometimes to ramble on about mundane details. That said, I still thought is was a good book to have in order to understand a little more about the background of this show.

A great read
I bought it used for £1.00. Considering it cost me so little, it earned the 5 stars within the first 20 pages. But the interviews and files on each cast member are IMO the best parts of the book. There also appear to be lines of dialogue that never made it into the show (perhaps they were cut to make the time slot), I've Googled some of the lines I didn't recognize and found they seemingly don't exist. For example "Frasier Crane's Day Off" has an excerpt where Frasier is complaining his pillows are too hot and Daphne should put them in the fridge until they're the temperature of a chardonnay. I searched the transcript for "pillow" and found nothing, so I think that exchange was cut from the episode. Each character has a biography on their character, and then an interview with the cast member who plays that character, which goes into details about their career and life, working on Frasier, and often important/interesting insights into their character (which are also written in the biography part). Jane Leeves gives insight into the relationship between Niles and Daphne (as does DHP slightly) which is interesting since we are rarely shown this storyline from her perspective on the show, although this interview can be found online as well. There's also a big section on Maris. We are treated to tiny bits of tidbits about her in the show, but its sparse so by the time we hear each tidbit we've usually forgotten the previous one. This biography on her contains everything we've learned about her in one section which helps you to create a better picture of who she is and what she might look like (the DHP interview also gives his thoughts on how she probably looks). Some of the trivia about the casting and so on is good. I'd heard it before but it went into more detail, e.g. in regards to the replacing of Lisa Kudrow as Roz with Peri Gilpin. It seems that at this point in the series the "Moondance" episode was the proudest work of the Frasier crew, since it gets mentioned numerous times throughout the book. There's also excerpts of reviews in the newspapers that the pilot episode ("The Good Son") received. That episode and "You Can Go Home Now" are also referenced a few different times.I don't like Cheers (though I do enjoy some of the Frasier episodes) or care for Wings so I skipped over the sections discussing that. There's a rather large quiz section at the end. There were mentions of things I hadn't heard of before in that quiz, such as a character called "Hightower" being Maris's secretary? Maybe I just missed that mention but I can't find reference to it on Google anywhere. Not really sure why some people didn't enjoy this book. I don't know what else they wanted from it? Yes it only goes up to the end of season 3 but that's when the book came out so you can't expect anything different.

Brilliant
If you are a Frasier fan, a must for your collection, the acting on this show is pure class the writing and delivery is right up there with any comedy, Sad that the great John Mahoney is not with us any more

A fun companion to a great show
I've always been a big fan of the show and I was hoping that the companion would be an in depth guide with plenty of nerdy detail. While it was certainly a fun read and I did learn a few things it wasn't quite as detailed as I had hoped. Still, great fun and it will stay on my shelf.
