Its main action is observed on the digestive system including stomach, intestines and liver. It is a carminative, astringent, stool binder and an appetizer. Takrasav is mainly used for chronic diarrhoea and bowel disturbances, including irritable bowel syndrome. A unique formulation described in Arsha Chikitsa by Charaka is also used in the treatment of piles or haemorrhoids. Takrasav increases the digestive juices secretion and stimulates appetite. The main property of Takrasav is stool binding. It binds the stool and reduces the frequency of loose stools.According to Ayurveda, it mainly acts on Kapha and Vata. Thus, it is more effective in the loose stools with mucus content or passing stools with gas. It may also be beneficial in Sama Pitta in which a person passes foul smelly stools with mucus content. Takrasav also increases digestive juices, so it may not beneficial in people with Nirama Pitta with symptoms such as burning sensation, heartburn, acidity and epigastric tenderness.Takrasav may also be useful for increasing appetite, intestinal weakness, flatulence, abdominal distension, heaviness in the abdomen, edema, and urinary disorders. Mix Takrasav in the recommended dosage in the equal amount of water and drink it immediately after the meal. In most cases, equal water is not sufficient and Takrasav may cause a burning sensation, so use 100 to 200 ml water. No synthetic chemicals are used in the preparation of this product.
