Magma Products, Newport II Infrared Gourmet Series Gas Grill
I recently had the pleasure of trying out the Magma Products, Newport II Infrared Gourmet Series Gas Grill for our boat (Model A10-918-2GS), and I must say, it's an outstanding piece of outdoor cooking equipment. As an avid griller, I've used various grills over the years, but this one has truly impressed me with its performance and features.First and foremost, the build quality of the Newport II grill is exceptional. It's constructed from high-quality materials, and you can immediately tell that it's built to last. The stainless steel body not only looks sleek and modern but also ensures durability and rust resistance, which is crucial for outdoor use.The highlight of this grill is undoubtedly its infrared cooking system. The infrared technology provides even heat distribution, reducing hot spots and flare-ups that can often lead to unevenly cooked food. I found that it cooked my meats and vegetables to perfection, giving them a beautiful sear and retaining their natural flavors and juices.Another noteworthy feature is the large grilling surface. Despite its compact size, the Newport II offers ample space to cook for a small group of people. Whether I was grilling burgers, steaks, chicken, or vegetables, there was plenty of room to prepare multiple items simultaneously. The integrated fold-away legs and convenient carrying handles make it incredibly portable, ideal for camping trips, picnics, or tailgating. It's also effortless to set up and fold down, saving time and effort when on the move. The gas grill comes with a reliable electronic ignition system, making it easy to start up without the need for matches or lighters. Additionally, the temperature control is precise, allowing me to adjust the heat according to the requirements of different dishes.Maintenance is a breeze with the removable grease tray and grease collection system, making cleanup after grilling sessions relatively quick and straightforward. As for the downsides, the price point might be a little higher compared to some other portable grills on the market. However, considering the excellent build quality, infrared cooking technology, and overall performance, I believe it's worth the investment. In conclusion, the Magma Products, Newport II Infrared Gourmet Series Gas Grill (Model A10-918-2GS) is a top-notch outdoor cooking companion. Its superior construction, infrared cooking system, and portability make it a stand-out choice for grilling enthusiasts. Whether you're an experienced griller or a beginner, this grill will undoubtedly enhance your outdoor cooking experience. Highly recommended

Very good product.
Too much to write. It's apparently American made plus this thing works great so I gave it 5. Downsides are the bottom pan catch is crooked, bottom pan really doesn't fit well, a part on right side had to be bent to get the sub-grate to fit in, the grates seem a little too wide and a little too short in the other direction to fit well, but they are in with no modifications, and the thing the propane bottle connects too is very loose fitting. Seems like the legs could be spaced out wider but they are very solid and work perfectly.Upside is we have a new char-broil and I got this for my boat and picnics and it's now our go-to bbq at home. That should say it all. Gets very hot in 5 minutes and it's ready to bbq. I got the 9x18. If you're not limited to size then get the 12x18 or larger, but this works fine. I can cut a large tripSmall. Drippings are instantly obliterated and make a nice flame. This is solid stainless, the legs work very well as stated, the lid has a very nice catch, there's the temp gauge and a window. On a BBQ the actual temp reading isn't really relevant because the giille is one temp and where the thermometer could be 200 degrees different. Some have complained there are no numbers on the gauge, which is true. Magma seems to know this so they just have color indicators. The window is a must-have but wasn't a must have to me until I got this. You know . . .OK now this thing is a blast furnace. Which you need for steaks. If you leave it closed it would probably melt eventually, and if not so then it would take too long to heat up and not get hot enough for steak, which it true for all BBQ's less than $400 and true for all grilles period. They are not that great. It's polished stainless but I think most all customers would have preferred brushed. A person with a 2 million dollar boat that wears a tuxedo while BBQ'g might like the polished, but in the end wouldn't care because their helper would be doing the cooking and they probably have a built in bbq on the deck anyway. A person with a 1 million dollar boat would probably prefer brushed however. But I bet most of their customers own boats that if sold used would get $10k average and bought this because they like to BBQ it's really the only one made for boats, and you can truly bbq with this think and it's the only one on the market for that, plus it's not chinese junk so it works, but which means for this BB is probably it's 5% of the value of the boat the owner is putting it on. I'm sure they'd rather have brushed.Regarding "flare-up" some have commented on, first it's very hot so everything gets vaporized as soon as it hits the sub-grille. Not really any build up. Which is what you what. And so the meat is getting cooked with it's own burning juices too- which is good. Sometimes you can turn off the propane and the drippings alone provide enough heat. And this thing has a large slot in back and the flames go out there anyway and everything seems to work fine. Don't set it next to your house or the flames from the back will burn it down. Seriously. And the stainless doesn't have any finish to get burned so all is good. To me it's as good a design as you can get. The legs and area under the BBQ seem to stay fairly cool as the legs set it up pretty high. Probably another intentional design thing by Magma.I wanted to use it in place of my junk coleman camp stove because I'm sick of chinese junk camp stoves. This thing actually runs my percolator coffee pot perfectly. It won't really boil water very well but I wanted it mainly for the coffee and to cook with a pan occasionally or heat up something in a pot, but I will use the griddle mostly and I bought a Hurricane 30,000 btu commercial single burner thing for heavy duty heating/cooking. The heat on that thing is actually lots more adjustable than the camp stoves even tho it's 4x hotter on high. But it's a commercial piece of cooking equipment.I have a salt water boat and the Magma model I have is made for that. I think their non-salt water boat ones are same but you may want to check w/ the factory. They actually answer their phone too which is worth $50 of the price of this thing to me.Happy grilling.

Slightly Bent Lid
I like the design and quality of the grill itself. The packaging is apparently not great for shipping through Amazon. I opened the package when it came to the house, and everything looked fine. I didn't completely inspect the grill, since I was not going to be installing it for quite a while. Once I finally got around to installing it, I found one side of the lid to be noticeably bent. It doesn't effect the performance of the grill, but it is unsightly on something that costs so much money. Of course it was too late for me to return the grill, since I had it for so long before installing. I do like the grill and it works great, even in the wind. I have it installed on the pedestal base on my pontoon boat, my family likes not having to eat sandwiches every time we take the boat out.

Great grill. No leaks.
Our old Magma grill leaked greasy stains onto the teak deck on our boat. This grill is great.

awesome although super overpriced!
There is a colored temperature looking like gauge on top, but it does not have any numbers on it 😞

Don't waste your time
If you've ever owned an actual infrared grill you will be extremely disappointed in this one. It dosen't heat evenly, It doesn't get hot enough, no matter how long you let it heat up and everything catches on fire, steaks, burgers, chicken, EVERYTHING. For $500 I expected something that at least "kind of" worked. The MAIN point of an infrared grill is to reduce flare ups and this one works no better than the old style Magma that came on my boat so don't bother "upgrading". BTW the old style magma that I already have is a piece of junk too so I guess I'll keep looking for a decent boat grill.
