Your Rugged Constitution

BEST BOOK EVER
I love the way this book was written. It made the Constitution so easy to read and understand. It was recommended to me by my best friend, a 75 year old retired history teacher, who was assigned to read it when he w9as inJunior High School, and assigned it to his students to read every year of his teaching career. I’m a 71 year old retired lady who never cared about history or politics before this stage in my life. Really short book and so easy to comprehend. I recommend it to anybody in America with an interest in the Constitution.

1950's Explanation of the U.S. Constitution
My grandson (12 years old) and I are reading this book one article at a time. It describes each sentence and some times each phrase of the Constitution and it's amendments in very easy to understand language. For instance the phrase, 'a more perfect union' refers to the first colonies that wanted to form their own governments, currency, etc. similar to the many countries in Europe. Now we have one currency and we don't have to show passports when we go from one state to the next because we have a more perfect union. I bought this on for my sister who lives in another state because she saw my copy and fell in love with it. It was written in the mid 1950's so a lot of the political spin is not there. If you want to learn about the Constitution, you need this book in your library.

The Constitution
This is a great little book for the young and adults. There is so much discussion of the constitution and our rights. This is a quick read that covers the constitution and amendments and how it affects us all.

Our Constitution, soon to be reappearing in our lives
Our constitution illustrated and explained for anyone who didn't get the chance to study the U.S. Constitution and wants to know what it is and why it is that way. This book, though first available many years ago, is the easiest and clearest way to introduce this topic -- a book written for eighth graders that I've referred to in conjunction with more complex books all my life. Our Rugged Constitution will make its re-appearance soon, for our use, and this book will help us appreciate it all the more.If you want to learn about a subject, start with the books for kids -- they have to be edited well and written clearly. This one certainly is all those things.

SHAKE-UP THE TEACHERS UNIONS!
Every K-12 school; jr. college; and at least once in every semester in a university should teach about the Constitution of the United States. This is the best book ever written about the Constitution. My first reading of it was in 1952 and I was delighted to learn that Stanford University was re-publishing it in 2014. I highly recommend it. In checking subjects from college catalogs one seldom finds a course about the Constitution. Someone needs to shake-up teachers' unions and get them to actually teach important things.

The entire Constitution and concise and non-threatening explanations of it
This book is an engaging and non-threatening discourse on our Constitution. Each Article and Ammendment is treated to a very general description of its intent and purpose. Don't expect law school depth on anything but instead accept the fact that this is aimed at a very basic level. If you read this book, you will certainly know far more than the average citizen about our law. There is no real depth to the material. It is just the basics without discussing controversy or complicated matters in any detail. I am happy with this book as a memory jogger. I had a copy from elementary school but it is totally in tatters now so this is a replacement.
