I first read about cocktail smoking in a mixology book. I saw it once at a bar, but never ordered one myself. Fascinated by the possibilities, I ordered the Chefhut because it was cheaper and more practical than some of the larger smokers. Creates delicious drinks. Poured one with my dad - he insisted we smoke all the drinks that night. The device was easy to use and set up. I've used it several times since with no issues. You can also explore smoking meats and charcuterie if you have the right accessories. This doesn't need too many chips to get going. I use a hand held torch to make sure everything crisps just right. Very cool - I recommend.

Great little pocket smoker!!!
Works well for little jobs especially with ziplock bags. You can set it on the counter and turn it on then light it leaving you two hands to pull the tube and seal the bag. I made smoked salmon by cutting the fillet straight down to the skin. Applied a rub, (Salt, brown sugar and spices) and worked that into the fish. Put fillet on a plate and then both into a ziplock. Used the mini smoker to blow up the bag, then sealed and chilled for three hours. There was plenty of smoke flavor.

Smokes great, but breaks quickly and runs out batteries (both the ones I bought!)
When you try this out of the box, it works great. It smokes your sous vide steaks or burgers or your cured salmon just the way you want, so it seems like it came off the grill or out of the smokehouse.But there are two major problems with this particular model -- I bought it once, encountered the problems, bought a replacement, and the same problems showed up again.First is that it simply stops working after somewhere between 5 and 15 uses. I'm not sure why, but I suspect it has something to do with oils in the smoke gumming up the motor or the fan it's connected to? Either that or the motor is just made with something so low-quality that breaks down or melts or who knows. But this has happened twice to me, with two units bought in two different years (I only use it a few times a year), so it seems to be a fundamental design problem.Second is that if you leave the batteries in, it uses them up. I used to leave the batteries in and every time I'd go to use it after a couple of months, the batteries would be dead. Replacing them made it work again. So it's got some design problem where it's always drawing some kind of low-level current that kills the batteries. So if you use it infrequently, you've got to remove the batteries every time after using, and the re-insert them when you're ready to use it again.So the idea and the price are right, and while the battery replacement is a major inconvenience, the motor breaking is a total deal-breaker. This device doesn't last, period. I'm trying a different model now (the onces that sit on a base that take two AA batteries) since their reviews don't have people mentioning it breaking the way this one does.

Five minutes to smoked cheese
This cold smoker is the answer to smoking cheese. All I have to do is put a block of cheese in a plastic bag, place the end of the rubber tube in the bag, add a pinch of apple wood in the hopper, light it, turn on the fan and fill the bag with smoke. Then turn off the fan , remove the hose and seal the bag.That's it. As soon as the smoke clears the cheese is smoked and ready to eat.Total time is around 5 minutes.

broke after 3 uses
I been meaning to write this i got this product early this year and it flavors great. but.... When i first used it, it worked fine, the second time i tried to use it. i noticed it wasn't working so i changed the batteries and i noticed there was a lot of "Potassium Carbonate" so i thought maybe the first batteries i used were bad "they were new" but thought maybe they were duds so i kept trying and it finally turned on. Sooo again like a few weeks went by and i tried it again but this time it was dead, dead but again i changed the batteries hoping thats all it was but it was never able to go back on. really disappointing i had been wanting one of these for years after seeing one on tv.. i just wish it wouldnt of broke so fast.

made for medium size bowels ,get the dome to use with it
Gives food a very mild flavor,great for in kitchen use
