Whitney Museum of American Art: Handbook of the Collection

This is just what the title says: a handbook of the Whitney's stunning collection of American art. A lot more of that is on display now that the Whitney has opened their new museum, and this book is an very helpful adjunct to a visit. The current exhibition, "America Is Hard to See", is entirely made up of works from the Whitney collection, and does not as far as I can discover have a catalog. Since there are some 600 work on view, there is a lot to see. This book covers many (about half) of the works on display, with pictures, artist bios, etc. It's a very helpful reference, and a good guide to a terrific exhibit.
