Cygolite Hi-Flux II LED Xtra: High-Brightness LED Bike Light with Frame Mount NiMH Battery

I haven't had very many chances to ride with the light yet, but what I have seen is awesome. The light itself is big enough to have the power I need, but not so big it gets in the way of anything. The mount is very secure and the light doesn't move at all. So far I've only had it on fairly flat single track so I can't say anything for more difficult terrain. When I ordered it, I expected the battery to be huge and ride in my water bottle cage, but it isn't at all, it's about as long as the palm of my had is wide and I can comfortably reach around three sides. It comes with a velcro strap and a pad to mount it to your frame where it sits very securely. I mounted the battery pack a couple inches in front of my seat tube and I can park my bike near an outlet unplug the light and plug into the charger without ever having to move the battery. So far I am very happy with my purchase. I don't have anything to compare it to, but if you are looking for an affordable light that is bright enough to light the trails at night and stays in place over bumps, or something better than a cheap AA powered light to light the road ahead this is definately a good choice.

I bought this light because my old bike light was good to let other people see me, but was not so good at letting me see. I use the Hi-Flux with the plastic flood attachment. This allows me to see a reasonable distance ahead and also lets me see the side of the road close to the bike. The only thing that would improve performance would be more power.Operation is easy. The only thing confusing is the the instructions on charging the battery. I worry a little about battery life since it appears to be a non-standard battery which might cost more to replace than I paid for the Hi-Flux.

I bought this three years ago (in 2011) and have rode my bike 25 miles a day year around and now here it is 2014 and it is still going strong. It is still bright enough to make other cyclists flip me off and shows no sighs of diminishing. It has been though wind, rain, snow, and sun with no problems. It has been through 2 bikes and seen me lose 50lbs. It is soon going on my recumbent that I ordered (the old back isn't liking D frames) and who knows how long it will last. I bought it for 60.00 but at any price this is a great light.

I've used a number of different lights over the years for my late night commute, and this is by far the best. Battery life is adequate for my 14 mile trip. Coverage and distance is very good. I travel well lit roads, dimly lit suburban streets, as well as unlit trails and the Cygolight handles them all. I had an old-style halogen Cygolite several years ago and while it did the job, it was tempermental and didn't last more than a couple of seasons before the battery pack failed. We'll see how the battery lasts, but already I can tell it is a vast improvement. I look for much better results from this light. There are better lights on the market, but I haven't found anything better in under $100 price range.

I use this every morning commuting to work. There is a 3 mile stretch without any street lights and it illuminates the road perfectly. On the way home I use the low beam so others on the road can see me. Last year I stopped commuting because of the dark, not this year. The mount works well and it's nice being able to recharge instead of replacing batteries.

I have been using this light occasionally for two years, Good light but now I am going to upgrade it to the cygolite 1300 lum, for me is not enough, I want more brightness and bigger ratio of light.

I researched lights and lumens and lumens per dollar--this turned out the be the best value, and I love this light. No complaints, very bright, works as advertised. The charge lasts forever. Highly recommended.
