So I have a Mac Mini (Late 2012) model that I was trying to get connected to a 65 inch LG 4K TV. I did the necessary hacking to get the clock limit removed. However all the active Mini Display-Port to HDMI cables I tried either did not push video cleanly, or didn't pass-through audio. This was the first and only adapter I tried that did both and did it well. It was also the most expensive but was definitely worth it. Do yourself a favor and just buy this adapter if you are trying to get a 4K TV connected to your Mac. It works the best.

This is a good product. It works as indicated. If you have a higher end laptop that can read and stream 4K, then this is for you. If you don't, you should buy the other one which is NOT 4K.

I never leave reviews because I'm generally too busy to ever seem to get to it. That said, I realize that many people are having issues connecting their Microsoft Surface Pro 4 through the new MS dock to 4k hdmi displays (i.e. TV's) that I thought I would share my experiences. I am connecting to a Samsung UN40JU7100 curved monitor. After trying the CableMatters and Startech active adapters (both of which show noise across the top of the screen), I decided to give the Moshi a try based upon one of the two other reviews for this product. Of course, I questioned the legitimacy of the review, especially as I had never heard of Moshi but, surprisingly, it works like a champ! I now get a very clean 4k@30hz, which looks terrific for what I do (productivity stuff, no gaming). This was going to be my last attempt at using an active adapter. My next step was going to be to send back the dock and purchase one of the older SP3 docking stations (which I hear works fine, even without an active adapter). I know this thing is 3x the price of the other active adapters but, trust me, this is a real solution and one of the very few that currently seems to exist.Update 1/17/16: It's been a few days and this is still a great adapter. However, I just received one of the new adapters with the chip that can do 4k@60hz and the difference is noticeably better resolution. Again, this is just running from an i5 Surface Pro 4 onto a Samsung UN40JU6700 and the adapter settings show that it is now at 60hz. The clarity does look improved (even though it really should only be motion that improves). Text is really, really sharp and Samsung colors are always incredible. Blacks now seem really inky dark, so I wouldn't doubt that contrast has improved as well. I am so glad I bought this moshi adapter (thunderbolt to HDMI). It saved me spending money to buy a new IMAC 27" 5K Retina. It worked wonderful for what I wanted it for and that was to see if my IMAC graphics card was bad. Thanks to this Moshi adapter my problem was rectified and I was happy. Hooray to the Company that sold me this.

Works perfect and exactly what I needed to get my MacBook Air connected to a mini projector. It was easy to use and it's small so no bulky piece to try to fit into my bag.

Purchased a couple months back and item was as described and works well in connecting the MAC laptop airbook to Samsung smart TV so I can use the TV as a giant monitor.

Der Adapter funktioniert an einem Samsung 40 Zoll UHD-Fernseher mit 4K-Auflösung und 30 Hz. Eine höhere Bildwiederholfrequenz ist bei 4K-Auflösung nicht möglich. Zum Programmieren, Surfen, Videos und Bilder ansehen reicht das. Beim schnellen Verschieben von Fenstern ruckelt es schon mal etwas, was mich aber nicht stört.Die Abwertung auf vier Sterne erfolgt, weil es deutlich billigere Adapter gibt, die genau so gut funktionieren.An einem Macbook Pro Retina 15" von Mitte 2012 benötigt man keinen Adapter, da der dort verbaute HDMI-Ausgang ebenfalls 30 Hz bei 4K-Auflösung leistet und keiner der getesteten Adater dort mehr bietet.Ein prinzipieller Nachteil dieser Adapter ist, dass für die 4K-Darstellung ein Thunderbolt-2-Port benötigt wird. Hat man noch Thunderbolt-1-Peripherie im Einsatz und will man 4K-Auflösung, muss der Adapter _davor_ eingesteckt werden und beendet damit die Daisy-Chain. Die gesamte Thunderbolt-1-Peripherie muss dann an den anderen TB-Port des Rechners angeschlossen werden, was bei umfangreicher Peripherie (max 6 TB-Geräte hintereinander) zum Problem werden kann. Ich habe mich daher entschlossen, mehr Geld für ein Thunderbolt-2-Dock von Belkin auszugeben, welches den TB-2-Port durchschleift und an seinem HDMI-Ausgang ebenfalls 4K@30Hz unterstützt.

UHD/4K FUNKTIONIERT!!! Ich habe so viele Adapter (mit Stand 11/14 fast alle über amazon zu bekommenden Adapter und noch andere…) getestet und nichts funktionierte bislang.Viele suchen einen Displayport auf HDMI Adapter der den Datendurchsatz für UHD/4K schafft. Dieser hier funktioniert! Zudem habe ich einen Adapter von MiniDisplayport auf Displayport genutzt. Wilde Kombination, aber es geht.Testumgebung:Asus GTX 980, 1x 2560x1600 Dell Monitor (DVI), 2x Samsung 6900er UHD und 1x Samsung 7590er UHD. Zudem noch über eine alte GTX 750 2 weitere Dell Monitore mit 2560x1600 (DVI).Über den HDMI 2.0 Ausgang der GTX 980 kann ich 60 Hz ansteuern (nur nach der Monitorabschaltung kann man diesen leider momentan nur mit 30 Hz wieder aufwecken).Über einen der Displayports mit Adapter und 3m CSL HDMI Kabel kann ein UHD Fernseher dann mit 30 Hz genutzt werden. Nichts für Spieler, aber als Arbeitsplatz oder zum Bearbeiten von Bildern ausreichend.

Dank diesem Adapter funktioniert nun auch mein Tv unter Ubuntu auf meinem Mac Mini Late 2014. Davor hatte ich ein billig Kabel mit dem unter Ubuntu keine fehlerfreie Bildwiedergabe über die Thunderbolt Anschlüsse möglich war. Auch unter Windows und OSX funktioniert alles Problemlos.Von daher volle Sterne Zahl auch wenn der Preis schon sehr übertrieben ist. Apple halt. Aber wenigstens kann man sich dann sicher sein das wenn es Probleme geben sollte es nicht am Adapter liegt.

Habe mir diesen Adapter mit einen HDMI 2.0 Kabel geholt doch das Ergebnis ist leider das zwar 4K geht aber nur 30 Hertz.Wer also die Hoffnung hatte eine Nvidia 7XX, AMD 2XX oder ältere Grafikkarte auf die Auflösung 3840x2160 mit 60 Hertz zu bekommen den muss ich enttäuschen.Da man leider weiterhin nur 30 Hertz bekommt was zwar zum Abspielen von Videos und so ausreicht, aber beim Spielen kann es stören was eher an den Zocker Gewohnheiten liegt.Fazit: Kaufempfehlung nur wenn man kein HDMI zu Verfügung hat, da man 3840x2160 mit 30 Hertz schon bei älteren Generationen bekommen konnte.

Ich kann bestätigen, dass ich hiermit einen 4k-Bildschirm an mein MacBook Retina anschließen kann, was mit Display-Port-Kabel nicht ging. Allerdings geht es auch direkt über HDMI, war mir nur auf der falschen Seite des Rechners.
