I had a few strokes a couple years ago and I have trouble with reading, comprehension, and typing at times. I'm now in college and struggling with the huge amount of reading in one of my classes. The words and pictures assault my eyes, so reading textbook text is like trying to understand a concept from your instructor while at a live concert. The program I'm with would pay whatever it takes for something I need and there are far more expensive pens out there that do the same thing (except the "taking notes" part) so what mattered to me was the features and the reviews. This one had the best reviews, and I liked that it's wireless and not as bulky as some of the others. It's more stylish and I wouldn't be embarrassed using it in class if I needed. Other than the note taking (omg, I need to kill 2 birds with one stone as much as possible!) as I'm also reading, and the Bluetooth capability, I LOVE that I can slow down the text-to-speech playback! I have to have things at about one third slower in order for me to understand better. The voice is a pleasant, if slightly robotic, female. You do have to make sure you scan fast enough, which was tough for me at first and that you're holding it tilted up enough but once you start getting the hang of it, it's very easy. When I input definitions, it's much faster for me to use my speech-to-text mic but this is perfect for notes and voice playback! Super happy I've chosen this brand and model.

I'm visually impaired, so I bought this thinking it could help with reading letters, pill bottles, or other printed things, as I can no longer read print. I've had the scanner for a week, but I've been unable to use it, as the software doesn't comply with my display settings and I'm unable to read the screens. I also didn't realize that I would require a bluetooth dongle, as my computer is already bluetooth enabled. It's not at all what I was expecting, and I'm considering returning, pending a response from their support services.

It works very well and is quite easy to use. I was scanning text within minutes of downloading the application. The technique for getting good scans is very easy to master. I got good results on my first attempt, even though I got a message to draw the device across the text more quickly. I was scanning from a book and also found that I needed to make sure I held the page down so the paper didn't bunch up, but that is super easy. I did this while laying on a sofa with my cat on my abdomen, which made reaching my laptop and holding my book very awkward, but using the scanning device was still very easy. It enabled me to enter relatively large block of text easily and quickly, as I read, instead of having to stop reading to copy by hand, or read aloud and use voice-to-text. I will be using this device a lot.
