Pro Tec Protec Saxophone Harness with Deluxe Metal Trigger Snap-Size: Small, Model A306SM

I am in my mid sixties and recently started saxophone lessons. I could tell that the weight of the instrument hanging from a neck strap was not something I could grow old with. This harness is exactly what I needed - all the weight is shifted to the upper back which is oh so much more comfortable than the neck strap, and allows me to practice longer with no discomfort. I ordered a size small and it fits with room to spare for accommodating a larger person or a smaller person (I am 5'3", 115 lb, and rather small chested. I am not sure - maybe a large breasted woman might find the straps uncomfortable .) The plastic-coated snap for holding the instrument feels very secure and is easy to attach. After initially adjusting the harness correctly, I can take it off and on easily with the main latch...no need to readjust it for height or snugness each time it is used. I definitely recommend this harness.

I use this harness for a Tenor Sax, and colleagues use it for an Alto Sax. The harness is early to put on, easy to adjust to fit your body (e.g. for different bulk shirts or sweaters), holds the sax in a comfortable position for playing, and the straps stay at the place you set them, they don't slip. The strap avoids the nagging neck pain associated with neck straps. For anyone given problems with traditional neck straps I encourage you to give this a try.

Son needed harness for staring bari sax. Needed metal clasp for durability (he says, “I can get away with plastic clasp for tenor and alto, but wouldn’t trust it for bari.”). He’s 5’8 and this fits well for bari use. He says the pad is comfortable, and the weight of the bari is supported through the harness attachment on the back of the pad and through the cross chest strap, so the shoulder pads do not collapse around his neck cutting into it. (He had this problem with Neotech super harness). The bari attachment strap is connected to a chest cross strap and is not stationary and can slide side to side, so he can move the sax holding position from side holding (when sitting) and more front-holding while standing easily without the shoulder pad moving around or need to adjust the harness length. With other harness where the support strap is directly attached to the shoulder pads, to adjust the hold, he has to either readjust he harness length on one side or leave the length unchanged and allow the shoulder pad to slide lopsided to deal with the hold change, which resulted in crumpled shirt around his neck. This cross-brace design does not have this problem.

Works great on my curved soprano and my alto sax! Easy to use takes all pressure off my neck feels nice.

It does take pressure off the neck. But it’s probably not a coincidence that a male is modeling this in the advertisement rather than a curvy teenaged girl in band. Because of strap placement, less is left to the imagination on upper body curved which isn’t necessary a positive thing for some band girls. I’ll leave the rest to your imagination.

This is a nice saxophone harness. I use it to hold an alto sax. I don't like neck straps as they put too much pressure on one neck vertebrae. This is great as the weight of the sax is spread over the shoulders making it comfortable to play the sax for a long time. Easy to adjust and put on.

This is a simple design, easy to slip on and off, and it saves my neck and back the weight of the sax. Yay

Much better than the straps that came with the rental, more comfortable around the back and over the shoulders with this kind of padding. My son uses it with a bari sax, nice and strong.

This was purchased for my ten year old daughter who plays alto sax. The harness is well thought-out it distributes the weight across the shoulders rather than on the neck. It's easy to put on and doesn't seem to twist or tangle like previous harnesses we've used. The dog lead style clip is metal but has a plastic sheath on so it holds the saxophone securely without scratching it. Certainly a better option than a neck strap for the younger player. Not the cheapest option on the market but it's well made and works well for my daughter.
