Hamilton Beach Toastation Toaster Oven

UPDATE after 6 years of use. from 2013 to 2019, August. The review posted below years ago still stands. It is still worth five stars. However here is few notes that I can post to help you to make better decision. We have been using this little faithful device for years, day in and day out many many times a day without a fail. Always doing it's job. All things that went to the top slots would come out perfect, all things that went to the little oven would be perfect as well. Never in my wildest dreams I would expect this thing to last this long under such a heavy use yet it worked so this is my little tribute to the device. I think it is a work horse and it delivers. Through the years the little light indicator died somewhere down the line and it was maybe two years ago or so and I never bother to look into fixing it because this thing paid off for itself and if any thing I would replace it if needed hwoever it worked just fine with the red light not working. It did not affect in any way the function of the oven. I am posting this update today as I am searching finally for a replacement. Not because it failed to work because we could go on forever on this thing but I think it is just time. Overtime it just look beat up a bit as the glass has some baked in stuff that would be impossible to clean without harsh chemicals and overall it is just time for a new device if you ask me. One thing that I have to say is that I truly missed a timer in this thing. I just feel that not having a timer sucks so I had to always make sure to remember I have stuff in it. Either set my outside little timer or take one with me as if I forget then I could burn stuff. It is also a bit of a safety issues so I am happy to see that they acutally are making one with the timer! I will update once I will get it and have it set up. I am sure I will like it because I can never give up now the double fuction over as I love to have a slot where I can pop toast and yet I love to have a little oven that goes with it. I was bit sad that my little guy did not have timer because frankly this is a little of a problem so I recommend you to go with the larger one only if you can afford it both money and space wise. For those who need something small and reliable then get the small one but beware to have a little timer next to it that you can aways set and take wherever you go so you won't forget some frozen slice of pizza in it or charr some this or another. Thank you little oven you were good to us! So with this toaster and it's review it is like with any other item. Depending on your needs and expectations you will either love or not. Not that there is something wrong with it because it is perfect, it is just that the more you know what it is the more informed decision you can make and the more happy you will be. Story of life. THIS TOASTER IS PERFECT BECAUSE: - it flawlessly fits that small width of your countertop over this single bottom cabinet with single door and one drawer... yeah, that one. And it still leaves bit of space width-wise. - it does the job of two appliances - an independent two slot toaster and an little taster oven so you can have your toast or you can have your open faced toasted to perfection Panini without needing two separate devices. - it has plain silver aluminum interior so no concern with that non-stick surfaces health risks. - it has the most beautiful and modern design. It was hard to judge from the picture but in person it really is nifty and sleek looking and those features.. yep they are there... - okay features - they are really nice and no nonsense, on the top of it.. it is just so easy to operate that it is just pleasure. - I did lots of test to toast many things and it works flawless. I bought it in April 2013 and it is toaster that does the job perfectly perfect. Someone was making some weirdest remarks on what you need to do to block the heat and do this an that.. I have no idea what and why in the world anybody need to do anything, it is like painting over Picasso. It just does superb job. FOR WHOM IT MIGHT NOT BE RECOMMENDED: - if you are looking for a toaster that will take more then two half's of bagel or two slices of bread at a time then move to the bigger ones, this one is not for you. It takes two at a time. - if you are looking to put a small pizza in it or roast a chicken, this one is also not for you. - if you are looking for convection oven then this is not for you either WHO WILL LOVE IT: - Anyone who is sick an tired of huge toaster ovens with all those features that one never needs or uses. - Anyone who just makes a toast and a Panini and just does not want to eat up all this precious countertop space for huge toaster that one won't need anyway. - Anyone who can't decide which toaster to buy.. front loaded oven or slot traditional toaster as with this you have both. - Anyone who just has a small tinny kitchen and needs small guy to do marvelous job on his small meals. - Perfect for single person, and small family of 2, 3. - Perfect for a single parent and any parent who just wants to throw a chease , a tomato and a pepperoni or ham or turkey or salami on that piece of toast and melt it to perfection for your little one and mm mmm mmm... so fast. - It perfectly replaces the Panini maker that might cost you two hundred bucks, and it does the same job. HOW DOES IT WORK: Easy peasy Siamese.. You take it out of the box and put it up and it is ready to toast :) Yep, that easy. And it is so light that you don't get hernia bringing it home or even loading it into your shopping cart as if you ever tried with other "small" toaster big boxes... little ladies rejoice! this one is friendly all the way home. So now.. the FUN PART: I was struggling to understand how it really works if I could see those tops of those bagels in the picture.. and NO it is not that you get your bagels half toasted :). They simply get completely immersed in the body of the toaster. Imagine it having a sort of mouth on the top. The mouth comes with slider handle on the front of the toaster. If you want to put bread to top load it, then you slide to open the mouth and the magical little door open, you put your bread in and just like in normal toaster you have a side slider that you push down to immerse bagels into the mouth of the toaster :) so to speak. Now as you can imagine now two things happen, the oven gets hot and toasts your bread but also remember that this would make rather impossible and impractical to have anyting in the belly of the oven put through the front door as I don't suppose you would ever try but I would not recommend as the bagels go really deep into the oven space and so you toast happily. BEST PART - you can see!!! your beautiful toasting in process. Through the beautiful little glass door you can see progress of bread browning and you can also stop it if you wish if the settings are not yet mastered. It is just so awesome. This oven inside gives so much light from toasting that you can easily and clearly see your bagels or bread changing color wow! Now back to the controls.. you have two: top turn knob that regulates your darkness of toast... and I is numbered from one to .. five or something.. and then you have the lower one that sets temperature of the oven. How simple is that? Totally simple. Oh and check this out = the door has this feature that as you open it it also pulls automatically the shelf out of the interior so you get yours staff easily accessible. Comes with two silver aluminium crumb trays. Cleaning. Viertually not needed. Just flip upside down to get the crambs out if you ever need them. I had my traditional toaster for years and NEVER cleaned once hahaha... Then again, did I need to? I never had a crumb police coming to check it, then again shhhh! I love it love it love it!!! I got my in black. Looks beautiful. Someone recommended to buy model 2. There is no model 2. :) check the manufacturer's site. This model is 2.. it is actually TWO slice oven therefore it is THE one you want. It is the top notch and the newest. I am so happy with it, then again, I did go over ten of all kinds of small toasters from the local bed bath & .. store and NONE was what I was looking for. I really needed combo and I really needed small and I wanted badly it to have NO non=stick interior. I wanted plain aluminium and not the non stick. So this one is a definite keeper. Try it, you will either love it or hate it. If you need small and perfect it is yours to love, if it is too small for you, just return it. Amazon is great. I am sure if you did your homework, measured your space and know what your daily habits are and what you are looking for in the oven and compared it with the specs all it goes down to looks and that my friend is something you will love upon arrival. It is awesomely cute gizmo.

I personally love this guy. This is a very economical, compact, & great design small countertop oven/toaster. It isn't heavy duty or complicated. So, if you want some big digital item that you have to memorize the user manual, this isn't it. I use it EVERY day to bake, broil, reheat, or toast. The toaster slot fits two slices & thick enough for bagels. I have replaced it a couple of times over 15 years because it is a little flimsy & due to my high usage since, as a single person, I rarely use my large oven or micro convection oven. However friends who have used it love the size, simple ease of use, & price. Many order one for themselves after seeing mine. It heats pretty evenly but the height of the opening is low, even though I have grilled salmon, chicken, beef filets, pizza. Baked potatoes, etc. It has a removable slide in bottom tray & a removable rectangular tray with sides that I like to line with foil or parchment paper. It can be cleaned of crumbs & burnt foods, but it isn't conducive to strong chemicals. If you're looking for complicated or digital, pass on this baby. If you want a cute, compact, economical & easy to use high functional appliance in choice of colors (I always choose red) perhaps this will be one of your favs too. I ignore negative reviews bc it is what it is. It has worked for me & I will purchase again as long as they stay in stock!!!!

I was thinking of buying one of these, but after reading the reviews wasn't sure it would work for me. Then I found one at a thrift shop and bought it as a "trial run." I loved it so much, but really wanted the red version, so I bought the red version and use the older (black) one for camping. Addressing some of the issues others have raised: It's small: Yes, this is true. But it will fit two good sized slices of pizza and so is big enough for most anything I want to use it for. If you use a toaster oven to cook for a family, it might not work for you, but for a single person it's perfect. No broiler: Also true. I find I don't miss it, when I want to broil something (not that often) I use my regular oven. No timer: Also also true. But I have a timer on my microwave and also a stand alone timer, so if I need a timer I use one of those. How many timers do you need in the kitchen anyway? Toasts unevenly: Not in my experience. Mine toasts just as evenly as any toaster I've ever owned. PLUS (and this is a big deal) it has a window in front so you can watch your toast and pop it out when it gets the shade you want. Why aren't all toasters this way! :) The older version I bought at the thrift store did not have a "cancel" button, but this new one does. This lets you turn off the oven or pop up your toast without having to pull on a lever. The tray does hang up a little sometimes, it just takes the right touch to push it in. (This is what gave it 4 stars instead of 5...you'd think they would have figured this out by now.) Bottom line for me is, this takes up WAY less room than most regular toaster ovens, let alone a toaster oven and separate toaster. It's retro cute and easy to clean. It holds any toast I've thrown at it, and it cooks lots of oven-y things so I don't have to use the energy or generate the heat from the large oven. So I love my Toastation! It might not work for everyone, but it works for me.

Este horno me encantó. Aunque pensé que era más pequeño, es versátil y puedo tener mi pan tostado con el dorado perfecto después de descongelarlo. Se calienta poco el material externo, lo cual lo hace más seguro. El compartimiento en el que se almacenan las boronitas es muy sencillo de lavar. Lo volvería a comprar sin duda

practica y funcional se la regale a mi madre esta feliz con ella , es muy facil de limpiar y de funciones claras.

It might be good for one careful user but not in a family household. The build quality is a bit delicate and the oven size is too small. I din't even try it. I plugged it in and it worked but that's as far as i got. However the concept is great, the manual talks about this one and 4 slice version which would much better as my problem with this 2 slice edition is the lack of depth in the oven. It is outrageously difficult to something of decent build quality but alas, it's all made in china.

So far so good. I had this same unit for years and was pleased with its performance but it started to not toast entire bread completely which is why the new purchase. I love having toaster on top of unit. I use oven mostly to warm up leftovers and garlic bread etc. When I searched for item I was disappointed to see very limited availability of black/stainless. All I could find was red, which did not fit my décor at all. For this reason I deduced 1 star.
