This is a great hat for two reasons: it is bendable, so it is excellent on the road (packing, airplanes and so on). Obviously, you can’t fold it as a pair of socks in the travel case, but you don’t have to worry about it being squeezed in an overhead bin. The other reason, it is very breathable - it allows a great deal of air to circulate under the hat, which is what you want, especially in a hot climate or intense sun rays. These two features are exactly what I’m looking to replace my aging hat.Also, it has quite a wide rim, which is excellent for protection of your whole head and neck. It isn’t too big, so you can wear the hat in normal circumstances (not just on a beach).And it is quite stylish, especially for a bendable hat (the rim’s shape won’t be consistent unless you simply don’t travel with it).The only thing you need to keep in mind is that this hat is for a very large head. Not for small, not for medium, not even for regular large heads. The hat comes in two sizes, but both are too big for my head (regular large size - 23 1/2). Even the smaller of the two (m/l) was sitting with its tip right on the top of my head. The manufacturer added an adjustable sweatband that has a string to tighten the circumference, but I don’t think it could be comfortable in the long run. Plus, I prefer to simply slip my hat on rather than deal with “shoelaces.”

Better than I could have possibly hoped for or imagined. Absolutely perfect. Quality, fit, appearance all over the top.

I looked for a quality wide rim hat all summer. when I found this one I know I had found what I wanted!well made with a wide brim and really comfortable.

Wanted a lightweight sun hat. This is a relatively affordable hat. Offers great sun protection and doesn’t make your head hot. Fairly stylish for a sun hat as well. Only con: there is an internal still cord that can be used to tighten or loosen the hat. The cord is relatively long and even if tied, it’s a bit cumbersome and dangles out of the hat. Probably have to cut at some point and commit to a specific size.

I was hesitant to buy this hat. I wanted a straw hat that I could haul flat in a suitcase. Straw does not lend itself to crushing and uncrushing. They crush just fine. They don't uncrush very well.I have had felt hats, in the past, that were "crushable". Yet I was skeptical that such a thing existed in a straw hat. I knew the term "crushable". This hat was listed as "packable". That was what made me hesitant. But hey, it's Amazon. If it wasn't what they said it was, there is usually recourse available.I received the hat today. I purchased the lighter colored one in L-XL.It's winter here right now. . It's hard to know how cool it will be in the summer heat. It is not made out of actual straw. It is made of some high quality stiff-ish woven thread material.Holding the hat up to a light, I can see through it like a high quality straw hat. It is a surprisingly good looking hat. It fits me perfectly. I have a big head. I normally wear 7-5/8. You could probably go a tiny bit larger and you should definitely be able to go smaller. There is a drawstring in the inner hat band so you can draw the hat in smaller. It fits me perfect with using the string.Most of all, it is very nicely "crushable" using their "soft-taco fold". You just push it in from both sides and it "crushes" quite flat.I am excited about this hat. So far I love everything I see, and feel, with this hat.I would definitely buy it again if need be.

Folds up well for travel, good for larger heads

Great hat. Easy to fold up into your backpack for adventures. Comfortable. Be ready for the compliments and “where did you get that hat?” Boom.

Not too bad of a hat, works well in the sun. is comfortable, and looks fairly stylish.Three stars due to the fact that wearing a sun hat you would expect it to pick up moisture from your head and this underperforms. Worn a handful of times in the outdoors and within the first few times the dye in the leather bled into the hat. There are now permanent streaks of brown dye on the hat. The inner band that contacts your head is thin cloth with no real value or thickness. It ripped along the side within a few times just by lightly brushing away debris. Would expect it to be able cleaning and even a damp cloth without the leather dye rubbing off and staining the $50 plus hat.

I have a large head (24” circumference exactly). It is hard to find hats that fit period, let alone ones that feel and look good. This large/extra large hat fits perfectly, softly hugging my head. Like one other reviewer here with the same head measurement, I removed the internal string which allows the user to tighten the fit. This changed the fit from ‘great’ to ‘perfect’, or at least the best I’ve ever felt on my head.Normally hats start to feel uncomfortable around my forehead after a few minutes and it doesn’t take long to end up with a red line that lasts an hour or two after removing. This hat is lighter than other similar styles I’ve tried on and well-balanced, so any lines present after removing it have so far disappeared quickly. I’ve yet to wear it outside for any considerable length of time and will update this review if my impressions change. I do find it’s a good practice to sort of shift around the position of any hat so the forehead pressure gets distributed across different spots over time.As you can see from the pics, the hat looks pretty good and I feel confident about being able to pair it with various summer looks. The colour is described as “brown”. There are three different tones woven throughout (darker brown, medium brown, light brown), and the overall shade/appearance is a lighter brown which should be good for reflecting light/heat.Although the hat is made of a “paper braid”, it seems pretty resilient. I twisted part of it between my fingers to see if it would tear and it didn’t seem anywhere close to doing so.The hat was also packed in a box that didn’t smush it, so there are no bends, folds, wrinkles, or other ugly “injuries” that I have seen from other products.Overall I’m very pleased with this and highly recommend it.

After a recent surgery for skin cancer,It was strongly advised that I get a decent sun hat to protect my face properly. I did a bit of research and found you! The hat is fabulous. Immediately comfortable and soft, the fit is perfect. Easy to wear when I’m out dog walking, working in the garden etc but stylish enough to wear for a day out to match with a pretty dress! I should mention that I am a woman with a huge head and so always end up wearing men’s hats..! I have recommended you to friends and family. In the meantime, is there any chance of increasing your ladies’ hat range to fit larger heads? Thanks so much

Der Hut ist ganz in Ordnung, die Materialbeschreibung stimmt aber leider nicht! Laut Produktionformation/Materialbeschreibung besteht der Hut aus "100% Elasthan" bzw. sei das Aussenmaterial "synthetisch". Ausweislich dem eingenähten Hinweis und dem angehefteten Info-Zettelchen der Fa. Wallaroo HatCompany handelt es sich bei dem Material um "Paper Braid" also Papiergeflecht! Daher auch nur 3 Sterne!!!
