Motorcycle Scooter Atv Handelbar Throttle Grip Security Lock (Shkthrot391)

I ride a scooter to school every day, sometimes traveling between schools. I was using a long cable lock prior to changing to this lock. I had someone with experience recommend a lock that attached to the wheel through the disc plate but when I'm loaded down bending over isn't easy. I also don't have a garage and am open to the elements so I wanted something quick and easy to use.My handle bars are thick so I don't use the rubber adapters that came with the lock. I find that it can take two hands to use most of the time, one to hold the bar closed once I have the brake handle in it and the other to push the button, But I don't think about where I'm positioning my hands when grab the lock, the lock and button work easily. The button is never stiff unless I don't have the grip clasped closed all the way.The one drawback that I have found is that my mirrors are attached to the bike at the breaking system and the lock will loosen it over time and I'll have to re-tighten my mirror. I think that this is a fair trade for ease of use and convenience.

This looks like the Grip-Lock. It's a third of the price. What could possibly go wrong? Let me tell you...Within the first week of using this lock it left me stranded in a strip-mall parking lot while I was running an errand. I tried to unlock it and the key pulled out the entire lock mechanism. Unfortunately, the Caps-Lock did not unclamp from the handlebar. Now, with nowhere left to put the key, I was forced to try and pry the seams open with a screwdriver I carry under the seat. To its credit, it did not come close to unclamping. The plastic is as durable as the description claims, an absolute nightmare for an unexperienced bike thief, but without a working key you kind of become a bike thief yourself, so...not so good. Luckily for me, there was a Home Depot across the street so I was able to walk over and get a pair of needle-nose pliers to extract the several broken pieces of the lock from the housing (see photo). Once I did that, the whole thing popped open and I had freed my bike from this disaster. Minutes of my life lost: about 55. Just buy an actual Grip-Lock.

Does not fit standard 2016 Harley Davidson levers. The lever opening in the lock is too small.

It works fine for locking the hand brake. It doesn't hold as tight as I would like though, so I am afraid it might not hold up to brute force or cutting the end off of the hand brake.

Product was as described and arrived on time. 4 stars because I had to use a Dremel to make the slot where the brake lever goes a little larger to fit my brake lever. I have a HD Sportster, so this lock might be a little small for larger motorcycles; it fit fine on my Honda Rebel without customizing it.Otherwise it works well once it was customized a bit to fit my bike!

Love this little guy. Great added piece of mind when parking my bike, even when locked up or under guard at a garage. That really simple extra bit of trouble to make the thieves look at someone else's ride instead of yours. On and off easy, fits nicely into the small gear bag on my Bobber. Might leave indents if you have thick grips with lots of ridges or soft-giving feel. Probably should have bought it in orange or something more high-viz to increase its efficacy.

Absolutely horrible product. Used it once and had a hard time removing it because the locking mechanism would not line up and open the lock. 2nd attempt to use it and the tumbler won't even accept half the key and it is useless. I guess it's better I couldn't open it and use it again instead of it being stuck on the bike and leaving me stranded.
