45°-90°-45° Saddle Square and Miter

Great for those 45 and 90 degree cuts and measurements.
This is another great Shinwa tool, I like the super light but strong aluminum design. I have already tested it's durability a few times as it has slipped off my work bench and no damage at all. I only wish that that the packaging would have some english on it to be able to use the tool to the fullest. I'm sure I'll figure it out but in the meantime it still works great for those mitre cuts and measuring for them.

This is the right one
Originally bought the version with just one 45 degree side. Kind of frustrating to use when laying out miters. Never really thought it through sufficiently the first time. The tool is otherwise just perfect. Well maybe if it wasn't metric it would be a little better but I'm not really using the markings just the sides so it doesn't matter to me.

Larger than other similar tools, slightly out of square when received
Pros:- Reasonably priced- Large size makes it very useful for wrapping around larger lumber to carry a 45 degree around edges- Reasonably priced- NOT made in comm't ChinaCons:- Shipped in a padded envelope which didn't quite protect it from being squashed a little so that it wasn't quite square. A gentle squeeze in a vise brought it back to square.

Nice metric layout miter square. Perfect for the hobbyist. Keep in mind that it is in centimeters.
If you are actually looking for inches, you'll need to find a different layout miter. This one is metric, and the markings are in centimeters. This is larger than I imagined. For those of us who don't convert inches and centimeters very quickly in our heads, I measured it with my tape measure. The long edge is 7 7/8 inches, the square part is 3 3/16 inches wide and 2 7/8 inches high if you're looking at it like in the picture. The edges are crisp and milled at 90° and 45° and work well with my mechanical pencil. The metal is aluminum and just a tad under 1/8 inch thick. As you can just about see in the picture, the 45° miter edges are matched by a 45° bevel on the square part. While I personally won't find the graduation markings to be very helpful, I bought this knowing it was metric and I was only planning to use it to mark 45° miter cuts. For that it's ideal.

The first square had the 45 feature on one end only... you need it on both ends, like this one.
This layout square did everything I needed it to do. I use it to lay out cuts for handrail tubing that I cut with a Milwaukee metal cutting saw. The 45s on both sides make it easy to do the layouts, just level the top and mark.Wayne

Great on rounded corners
Totally a geat product. Was always a pain to make a mark around rounded corners on square steel tubing. this does the job.

Can't read it
Had I known it was in metric, I would not have bought it. Doesn't do a whole lot of good if your not able to read the inches.
