SAT Math Prep 800: Challenge Yourself to a Perfect Score

Very well organized high-level SAT book to reach 800
I had the authors' earlier book and liked it a lot. This book has a consistent set of hard-level problems that will easily help students in the 650+ math SAT range to reach close to, or attain, an 800. The overview of the SAT Math section is excellent and a section on pitfalls students encounter help the student understand easily where he/she can make easy errors. Then the DIAGNOSTIC Test up front readily helps a student to see the math topic areas where they are week. From there, there are 30+ mini tests (about 15 problems each) that help continually hone the expertise of students - as they specifically focus on the topics areas they found they were weak on from the DIAGNOSTIC Test. At the end is a final 25-Question Test to hopefully show the student that doing some 500 problems really paid off.......and that they see a score that will likely be close to the actual score they get when they take the Math SAT. This book will be easy to use for tutors and students - and they will see quickly the topics they need help in -- and how fast they have overcome the hurdles as they progress through the 30+ tests. The author's book has very detailed solutions the tutor and student will appreciate. These are excellently written. One thing to keep in mind is that the book helps the student with diverse set of tests that help him/her to improve their speed and learn the areas they were weak on in the up-front diagnostic test. The series of 30+ tests have 15 problems in them but at all at the higher SAT Math level of difficulty. The normal SAT has three separate math test sections and are interspersed with the verbal test sections - the entire test is over 3.5 hours - so the stamina needed is different than this book's math problems. So after doing a couple of the 15-question tests, use other SAT prep book tests in their entirety to get a better feel for how welll you'll do given you need to be taking more than 3 hours of tests. A companion book to this book is Dr. John Chung's 3rd edition of MATH SAT book - where John has 58 tip sections up front to review all the main SAT math topics and then follows with twenty 3-section tests that follow the 54-math problem format and are a level 4 or 5 difficulty level. The SAT has 3 sections (i.e., 3 separate math tests) for the math area with several grid-in questions where the student fills in an answer (i.e., non-multiple choice questions).

GREAT BOOK
I have been teaching SAT Prep at my school for 2 years and I find this book extremely valuable. Not only is the book laid out nicely, but the quality of questions is hands down the toughest problems I have found from any publisher. The author took time to come up with CHALLENGING problems. These truly are advanced tests. My students work very hard on the problems from this text. I find that using these problems near the end of the teaching experience could be more valuable as students learn how to take the SAT.If you want to raise your SAT score, then I would recommend this book to both teachers of the subject and students looking for an edge for this exam.

Very clear with plenty of challenging practice problems
This book is a great way for the mathematically savvy student to prepare for the math portion of the SAT. For students who typically get A's or high B's in math, it's an excellent way to practice. There are a lot of practice tests for the student to work through and score themselves, so that they can see how they're progressing. Many of the problems are fairly difficult, but not so difficult that they're impossible to do in the time allotted, and the solutions are very clear. There is some introductory material with good tips and strategies, but the real strength of this book is the no-holds-barred practice with challenging math problems. These are very well written problems that will make students think. For top math students looking ahead to the SAT, I highly recommend it.

Proven Quality for SAT Math 800, even better with Apple's iBook version
Would highly recommend this book for mathematically gifted students who are tired of practicing with SAT books focused on the basics and has only a few hard problems. My child got it to study and scored 800, and I think this book helped a lot, since it tackles only the hard problems.I also recently found out that there’s an abridged, less expensive Apple's iBook version of this for those who have less time to study but still want to try a hand at the harder problems on the SAT. Would recommend to anyone interested and possibly looking for the same quality but at a lower price.

Great practice problems; gives relevant tips I had never heard before
The explanations are thorough but to the point. This book also fits lots of practice problems in such a small book, yet pages don't feel cramped. 'Has relevant, detailed advice at the beginning about maximizing your score. Possibly my favorite SAT Math prep book.

SAT Math Prep 800
The book is excellent for those who wish to attain a high score, 700 or higher, on the math part of the SAT. It is loaded with difficult math questions that are extremely similar to the level 5 questions on the test. If you are a good math student , the book gives you practice questions that ,when mastered, gives you the edge you need to significantly increase your score.
