So easy to use on inside measurements.
They make the best stick rulers there is.

Utilitarian to the max
Worked a's an apprentice carpenter and or journeyman late 60's and early 70's. No self respecting carpenter carried a tape. Impractical, flimsy and inaccurate.Haven't had one in years ans while the quality is a tad..just a tad short of perfect, it's a great item.Price 1968: 8.00 bucks.

I love stick rulers with sliding extentions.
Dissapointed I got a 6' ruler delivered, evidently, they have no 8' rulers. But they credited me the difference and I bought two

Stability counts.
It's so nice to be able to measure from the top of a curtain rod to the floor without having a flimsy metal tape to bow its head (like a sleeping husband at an opera), just as I'm about to learn the length of the draperies needed to fit a particular space! My carpenter grandfather always carried a Lufkin in his toolbox and I should have learned from his example. Appropriate tools turn a chore into a more pleasurable exercise.

Not good
The quality of the extention slide is very poor.I did not receive the 8' rule I paid for and ordered, instead I received the 6'. Definitely a disappointment all around. They don't make em like they used to.

It's an eight footer!
I broke my last eight-foot folding rule a few years ago. These animals are quite hard to find. My thanks to Amazon for making this tool available. Most carpentry involves 8-foot measurements for uncut stock (lumber, plywood, drywall). That's where the 6-foot rules fall short. Lufkins are easy to read. They have 16" centers clearly marked. There is a sliding rule included for interior dimensions (e.g. closets).I'm so glad to finally have my favorite carpentry rule again!

Works great and better than a tape measure
I got this so that I have one up at the house and now one in the garage. I find them more accurate the tape

A classic is always the right tool.
I started working with carpenters in the 70's and they often used this rule as well as a tape. I started using this rule in recent years in the woodshop and found out why it is so useful for carpentry. I ordered the 8' rule after I broke my 6' rule. I would stick with the 6' next time, because it is more easily handled,

Not the quality I had expected from Lufkin.
The slide portion is poorly machined and slivers of wood were shaving off and does not fully retract without force and fully extended is loose. I feel that the slide should be a bit of both so that it will stay firm when fully extended and a smooth retraction without sticking.
