4 years and still working good.
I bought 2 of these traps 4 yrs ago and they still working great. You'll need to replace the bulbs when they burn out, ( generic bulbs are cheaper and seem to work fine ) other than that. They catch a lot of mosquitos. Take a bucket of hot water when cleaning the basket. Remove basket quickly and submerge upside down in the hot water. This will kill any mosquitos still alive in the trap and prevent them from escaping. After about 5 minutes, dump out the basket and rinse clean. Take a small brush, like a paint brush and clean the grid below the fan. Also, check the fan is not locked up. A couple times I found a larger bug had gotten wedged on the side of the fan and stopped it from spinning. Reattach the basket and it's ready to go again. Good product. Highly recommend.

Works best with affordable upgrades
My target is mosquitoes which are not attracted to the light so some adaptations help to maximize mosquito capture. On this unit, a fan pulls in the bug and the bug is trapped alive in the reservoir. I purchased a few things to use in addition to this unit: sticky traps, octenol lure, dry ice, and a Styrofoam cooler. I put the sticky trap in the bottom of the reservoir and one octenol lure. I poked a couple small holes in the top of the cooler and put the dry ice in to emit CO2. These lures mimic breath. I caught hundreds of mosquitoes and gnats, and a few different types of moths in 3 days. I could not be more excited about my setup. The first photo is not great because the mosquitoes are all smashed to the trap, but I circled the areas with the highest concentration of mosquitoes on the trap. The second photo is less concentrated and you can see more clearly it's mostly biting gnats and various species of mosquito.

More effective at trapping your dollar bills then your mosquitoes!
I purchased this product primarily for my mosquito and wasp problem neither of which it had any effect on. I saw no change whatsoever in mosquito activity both in our patio area and in the yard. I actually got stung by a wasp just 15 feet away from it. I know it can't catch everything but it didn't catch a single fly or wasp. If you're after moths then you will love it as that is primarily what I saw when I removed the basket to clean it. Also, their proprietary light bulb burned out only after 8 weeks of use and costs $15 to replace. To me that smacks of “revenue stream” and to say this thing will cover 1/2 acre half area is a vast overstatement. In fact I would call that downright false advertising. I contacted Dynatrap directly with my grievances and all they did was reply with some tips that are all included in the manual that came with it and didn't even mention the premature lightbulb failure. They said they will only refund money within a 30 day period. Concerning the lack of effectiveness with regards to mosquitoes they stated “Once you put the Dynatrap out, it will take about 3 weeks before it has any impact on the mosquito population, since that’s about how long it takes for mosquito eggs to hatch, and 6 weeks to break the life cycle. Interesting how you have to do keep this thing past when the refund window has closed to know if it has a chance of working! To me that says loud and clear, SCAM!!!

Catches bugs, but not a lot of mosquitoes.
Got this back in March (its mid june now) and have been using this device every day except when cleaning. I live in the middle of Florida so basically mosquito and bug heaven. This thing catches tons of moths, june bugs, flying ants, and other bugs. I cant say I've actually seen any mosquitoes in it though which was my main purpose for buying it. It does attract frogs at night though which have grown quite large picking off bugs that don't fall victim to the trap and I hope those frogs get some mosquito action. I might put a C02 dispenser on it though to try to increase the amount of mosquitoes it generates or use octenol lures. If this improves performance I will update the review

It worked great for two months and then it didn't
It worked great for two months. The bulb was very dim compared to the identical unit that my neighbor installed but between the two of them they got the job done. Gradually, after much less than the 3,000 hours stated, the mosquitos returned with a vengeance. I ordered the wrong bulb from Amazon first and have to return it and lose $7 shipping. On the second try I got the right bulb and installed it. The bulb would not light up? Frustrated, I took the unit down and was going to return it to Amazon. In the garage I plugged it in one more time and the new bulb lit up? I installed the old bulb and it did not light up until I unplugged it and then plugged into the wall again. It then lit dimly. After unplugging and installing the new bulb it works again. I hope... Stay tuned. Bottom line- the device works great but the bulbs don't perform as stated. Expect to replace them at $12 a pop several times during mosquito season and don't forget to unplug it and replug it after installing the new bulb. UPDATE- The replacement bulb worked for a week or two. Now I am back to swatting mosquitos. Buyer beware!

When buying the product it doesn't mention that it is 120V and they are selling it in the UAE, which is 220v standard.. This is completely misleading and dangerous..
