6th graders find this fun.
due to Common Core...and the many guidelines teachers are forced to meet the mysteries are great for those off dayswhen 50% of your students are out with the flu...........or when it starts snowing and 2/3 of the parents call and pick up their children early due to weather............You can brainstorm and discuss without leaving students out...or getting ahead of those who are missing class......

A bit advanced concepts, but good education for an 11-year old
This book of one-page mysteries (plus answers on the reverse page) are in sections: 15 life science, 15 Earth and space science, 15 physical and chemical science, and 15 general science. Also added are 5 more mysteries, and 5 to be solved with math.My 11-year old grandson can understand the mysteries, but is rarely able to work out the answer. However, they are good education.

Just glanced through it but it looks like some good experiments.

Another good book in their 'Mysteries' series.
Their first volume of 'SCIENCE Mysteries' was good, and so is this 'MORE SCIENCE Mysteries' sequel. [I also bought their 'MATH Mysteries' first book, however, haven't been able to locate a sequel for that one (...did same publisher not make a 'MORE MATH Mysteries' book?)].

I imagine this book might work better in a school of wealthier families than mine
Skip it, trust me. As a middle school science teacher, I imagine this book might work better in a school of wealthier families than mine, as the stories typically feature students who own their own microscopes and whose homes undergo expensive renovations. And the diversity it tries to include is obviously shoe-horned in and awkwardly written. But alas, even were it not so, the stories are completely useless for illustrating the concepts of gravity, or tides, planetary scale, or what-have-you. You're far better off showing a Crash Course Astronomy video, or the like.

These short one minute mysteries are great to get the kids thinking
These short one minute mysteries are great to get the kids thinking. I introduced one of our teachers to it and her class was very happy with the extra challenge.
