M12 Lens Set, Arducam Lens for Raspberry Pi Camera (1/4") and Arduino, Telephoto, Macro, Wide Angle, Fisheye Lens Kit (10°- 200°) with M12 Lens Holder and Cleaning Cloth, Optical All-in-One

As I didn’t know which angle of lens I needed to allow me to mount a camera inside the AtomStack enclosure and still be able to view the entire cutting area, I bought this set to allow a bit of trial and error. Ended up using a 140mm BTW and works great. So handy to be able to take a still of the material on the cutting area and align the job on Lightburn with the material being cut. Much less waste material

This review is mostly for people looking to use this for IR, which is an off-label use for this lens. Build quality seems good, the threads mesh smoothly in both the metal and plastic holders so it is easy to adjust focus. Picture quality also pretty good. I'm using this on a 1/4" sensor which is a OV2640 from a ESP-CAM with the plastic case cut off (see pics). I also tried with another one of the same sensors with the plastic case still on it but just the lens removed, and that also works with enough clearance to get proper focus so, y'know, probably just do that. The larger metal housing fits over the sensor with plenty of room on the short flex cable on that camera. Did not come with the locking ring so I dinged it a star but not a big deal for me. My use case requires a lens with no IR filter so I can process near infrared light. Pretty much everything on Amazon has an IR cut filter installed. This lens has one and I knew that when I bought it, but I wanted to see if it can be easily removed, as some lenses have the filter at the top of the stack where you can't get to it w/o destroying the whole unit. The filter on this lens is at the bottom. For lens bodies made of plastic you can usually dig in with some tweezers and pry it out. This one is made of metal so it did not work as well. I was able to take a pointy object to the corners and break up the filter with a hammer and pry it out in pieces. Somewhat nerve-wracking but I was left with a functional lens that passes IR.

Must admit I was skeptical at first of those lenses; however, once we started to use them to ascertain what lens would be best for each project this kit became invaluable. The quality of the product was terrific and the team at Arducam were also very responsive to our inquiry. We now have purchased both kits packages and these will be the tools each engineer use in the field. We highly recommend it.

The 45 degree and 55 degree lenses work, but the three wider angle lenses do not screw in close enough to the sensor to properly focus. Do not buy these for the IMX477 M12 Raspberry Pi camera.
