Faith Alive Bible: English Standard Version Translation

What an amazing Bible!!!
We have been using the Faith Alive Student Bible in our church for years, and although our church "officials" are not too happy about the change to the ESV version (because it's a little more difficult to understand that the NIV version for the younger kids,) I love love love the format! I love how the sections are broken down and color-coded into sections: the books of Moses, the books of History, the books of Wisdom and Poetry, the books of the Prophets, the Gospels and the Epistles. This Bible also includes many pictures and boxes on the page on how the kids can apply these things to their lives."Who, What, When, Where and WhyThese boxes are spread throughout the Bible and provide facts on the who, what, when, where, and why of God s Word and the story of salvation. Find out more about the real people, places, and life in Bible times.4U: (For You)Every word in the Bible is loaded with meaning for everyone, but these boxes will help you understand what certain passages mean FOR YOU personally.Cross ConnectionsAs you read through the Bible, you will find many verses that remind you that Jesus death on the cross connects you back to God which gives you forgiveness, life and salvation. In many placed, a brief note is included explaining a particular Cross Connection.Section and Books of the Bible IntroductionsThe Faith Alive Bible is divided into six sections. The beginning of each section includes information about the books contained in the section. There is also an introduction on the first page of each book of the Bible that gives you the big picture about the content of that book, including the author, dates, main themes, and significant events.Articles and ChartsThe Faith Alive Bible is loaded with great information to help you better understand God s Word for your life. You will find colorful and informative articles and charts through the Bible, between the Testaments, and between books or chapters of the Bible.Timelines and MapsThe events recorded in God s Word are real. Look at the timelines to see the history of your salvation. Colorful maps help you see where these events took place and where those locations are found in the world today."I am totally going to "borrow" my daughter's bible when I run into a question in my studies and devotions. I highly recommend this book--not only for kids, but for anyone who has a hard time getting into God's word or applying it to their lives.

Great study Bible
I love that this study Bible for students is visually attractive to children with significant, colorful facts that will help the reader understand God's Word. It has a lot of special features such as time lines. A great transition from an illustrated Bible to the ESV translation.

excellent content; binding is a bit flimsy
This is a terrific student Bible for youth. There is a LOT of explanatory content added--at the beginning of the volume and of each biblical book, and scattered throughout the text--and one of the authors of that content is a seminary professor! Many questions that young people have about things they encounter in Bible reading are answered in in-line boxes, sidebars, and half-page boxes. Illustrations help make the text come alive and make it easier to grasp the family trees, timelines, locations, etc. These Bibles help students understand not only the Bible text itself but the theology it expresses. My husband and I got one of these for our daughter years ago, and our churches' sixth-graders receive them to use in our Bible survey class. The only negative thing I have to say about them is that the binding doesn't hold up well, so that's why I took a star off the rating. Our daughter's has been taped and re-taped after both the front and back covers broke off.

Great children's Bible
We have searched for a student Bible for our youth. This Bible is used for our 1st to 5th graders. The only caution is that of one or two of the extra commentary sections. This is published by Concordia and has a few comments on infant baptism that conflict with our beliefs. But the pros far out weigh the cons!
