Nautical Cove Solid Brass Ships Bell 3.5" Tall and Wall Mountable - Clear Ring for Indoor and Outdoor Use

When I ordered my bell, three sizes were available. I ordered the large size. It is exactly 8 inches in diameter. Because many of the reviewers reported receiving a bell that was not like the one described in the Amazon listing, I was somewhat concerned. The bell that was delivered to me, however, was perfect. It is a big (8 inches in diameter) heavy and rugged bell. It is all real brass. The sound is very pretty and rich in harmonics. It can be very loud if the user is not careful, so protect your ears. It is brightly polished, and engraved with a small picture of a sailing ship and the words, "Nautical Cove," just like the photo in Amazon's listing. All of the hardware for hanging appears to be made of brass that matches the bell. I am extremly satisfied with this bell; it exceeds my expectations.

I got this for the outside of the door to my hot tub area in my back yard. I wanted to make the ringing of a bell part of my ceremony when I getting ready to use and after I use the hot tub. After reading some of the reviews, I went with the 8" bell to get the truest ring and report I could. As another review indicated, it does not come with attaching hardware. For my application, I needed 3" screws and I got them (brass) at my local hardware store for 69 cents each. The wire ring that connects the clinger to top inside of the bell didn't look sturdy enough, so I switched it out with a 1" key ring I had. The bell rings loud and has a bell sound that reminds me of the sound they have for boxing matches. My wife told me she can hear it up in the bedroom that is on the other side of the house. Since I got it, I have decided to also ring it at sunrise and sunset. I ring it 3 times over 7 seconds. I think the bell is great value for the money and looks great.

Our doorbell broke, so we installed this ships's bell. It works well and it's fun! The bell is well constructed, as is the bell ringer.Great addition to our front door. I recommend.

Beautiful Bell. Lively tone. Great polish. Inner clapper was mounted upside down, and required some adjusting. Also, the inner stem to the clapper was bent far to one side, impairing the ringing, but was a fairly easy fix with a pair of pliers. (Clapper issues are the reason for four stars instead of 5) . They don't mention it, but the bell may be easily mounted to either a flat vertical surface (like a wall) or under a horizontal one (like under a shelf). Handsome bell.

I'm glad I chose the 8" bell. The 6" bell would have not made an impression. We installed the bell on the outside of a new fence.

I am a cancer survivor and the facility where I was treated did not have a bell for patients to ring on the day of their final treatment as is the tradition. I donated this bell to them and the response has been overwhelming with joy and thanks. The patients now are able to ring the bell for everyone to hear and the happiness and joy on their faces are priceless! I am so glad I can play a small part in their elation when they ring the bell on such a momentous occasion.
