Works fine
Dog will use this if he needs to, we still focus on 100% outside pees so this is a temporary measure in our house. I have a mini dachshund. They are notoriously difficult to potty train. So this has been a good help. The only thing I can say about this that might be remotely negative is that the weave on the grass is very tight. This causes it to hold smells and be difficult to clean. I put the tray on top of pee pads and then I put pee pads under the grass so that I can pull the pee pads and change them when I wash it 2 to 3 times a week. The grass is holding up well under all that washing. I tend to use scrubbing bubbles. And hot water. But the smell is never really gone from the grass. This is not a dealbreaker, just something to be aware of.

Miracle Product
This is the second time I have used this product to "paper train" two Yorkies. They both got the idea within 2 uses. Well-made and easy to clean. I line mine with disposable wee-wee pads to absorb the liquid. When he needs to go and requires a reminder, all we have to say is "Potty Patch," and bam, he's on it.

Took some time to transition
I've been using pads for a while just at night time I'm case of an accident. My little Dachshund was stubborn for about a week. I had to put a pad on top of this. Finally, it was a go! I clean the tray once per week with mold soap and a splash of bleach. Leave for 10 minutes acrub. The grass I just put baking soda on it and some soap let sit and lightly scrub.

Good product with a few caveats
The main aspect of this product is whether or not your dog will adapt to it. It's a gamble and so I don't feel you can rate this product low if your dog doesn't take to it. My puppy was around 11 weeks old when I got this. Before I could put it together she was on it and using it. I was shocked at how quickly she took to it. Her daily "accident" count dropped from 4 per day to just 1. She did bite and pull at it at first, just as she would do with real grass, but now she's 14 weeks old and has stopped biting at it...mostly. If your pup keeps biting at it you can look into tying the grass down. And that is my first con with this product - it doesn't tie down. A little clamp or latch on the corners would have been great. I'll admit this isn't much of an issue to me now because she stopped but if you dog keeps pulling at it this feature would be great. Second, I would strongly recommend putting a pee pad inside the reservoir. The reasoning is that it will help with clean up and smell. And that brings me to the biggest con...the smell. First off, there is almost no product you'll find that won't smell after awhile. The smell isn't too bad but I'm very sensitive to it. It's not just a pee smell, it's got a strange plastic smell to it. The pup doesn't seem to mind. My recommendation is to replace the pee pad (if you use it) every few days and to clean the product every week. If you don't use a pee pad I'd recommend cleaning the product every few days. How you clean it will determine the longevity of the product. Obviously you should clean all three layers but the grass and the middle layer (which is designed to keep the grass from sitting in the pee) are the most important. The middle layer has holes for the pee to fall through but that means it also has areas were the pee can sit. So always clean this one. To mitigate the smell I do a 2-step cleaning: 1.) Scrub with pinsol with lemon to fully clean. 2.) scrub with a vinegar and water mixture to help kill the smell. This seems to work for me. Bottom line - I had to ask myself do I want this one product that might smell a bit or have to clean up accidents all over the home...I preferred the former. I think before you buy this ask yourself that question. My puppy is still very young and so this is a great tool to help her learn how to potty and to maintain my home.

Great! At first...
Ok so, let me start by saying that when we first got this it was a MIRACLE product! Our puppy just intuitively peed on it religiously and exclusively, no training needed! At first cleaning it wasn't much of a pain, you could just pat it down with some paper towels and that was that. But after 2 weeks it started smelling terrible and stinking up the entire house! Washing the whole thing with water is a PAIN. The tray and green tray are easy enough but the fake grass is a NIGHTMARE!!! All the pee stays in it and you have to squeeze it a million times for it to drain. And then there's drying time!I'd say this is a good solution for outside but I will never buy another for inside.

Perfect for Chihuahuas
I have two rescue Chihuahuas. They have small bladders and are very adverse to going outside to potty when it's cold, snowy or rainy. These pads are perfect for an indoor potty. I hose them down every 1-2 weeks. The fact that the urine flows through the grass, through the middle layer, then stops in the lower tray helps keep down odors. We also have cats and these are much cleaner than a litter box.

Potty Patch is a waste of money
I really was hoping this would be as good for my dogs and me..as it looks..It's not...I had 2 new puppies so thought a perfect time to start them and my older chihuahuas on this and get rid of the potty pads. My Older dogs just looked at it smelled it and walked away..the Puppies jumped on it, sat on it, and then started pulling the fake grass out. I ended up leaving it down on the floor for three days, and had one small pee pee on it. There also was grass everywhere..A big waste of money..I threw the box away or I would have returned it...I gave up and ordered 4 more Potty Pads....DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.....
