great screen
needed a new monitor with a DVI input for my New Yaesu FT-dx10 HF50MHz Rig so this model had it all.

Great monitor. Don't bother finding anything cheaper than this.
Okay. You maybe in the same boat as I was. I have a Surface Pro 3 (SP3), a very capable laptop-tablet device. This year, I went from having a full-blown computer with a dual screen set-up for work to having just my personal Surface Pro for both work and play.I realized as I did more than just casual typing and light business on the SP3 that I needed an extended monitor. Because I never felt like I needed a monitor at home before, I wanted some very affordable, starting low so to speak to see how I value the set-up.I originally bought the cheaper 720p AOC e970s monitor for $20 less than this ViewSonic. While the $60 AOC did the job, it was too much of an adjustment for the eyes between the high resolution SP3 monitor to the 720p ROC monitor.I replaced the AOC monitor with this one and was very happy. You will find that the 20" isn't that big. I had a concern with this because I had a smaller desk and wanted to keep the primary display on my SP3 where the keyboard is. Not a problem at all.I had a concern with reviews saying the adjustment buttons are hard to see. I personally did not find that an issue. While the embossment is hard to see, the space between the buttons and the very smart placement of the power light circumvented the need for a stronger embossment. There are a total of five buttons. The power button was set apart to the right so you can't really misclick while using the four primary buttons of up, down, 1 (enter) and 2 (exit). The power light is placed dead in the middle of these four buttons so by using four fingers and finding the light, you are golden.I do not find the need for the built-in speakers on this monitor yet but I thought it was nice.I did not mind the VGA connection because I had bought a VGA adaptor for the AOC monitor so I actually preferred not having to buy another adapter.I gave this four stars instead of five because I do feel like there is a hint of the shadowing effects for texts. It is not 100% matched with what I have on the SP3 resolution. But hey, it's only $80!Make sure you change the color adjustment to Cool and get the Contrast and Brightness to the right levels before using.Go with this one with you are making up your mind between the bottom of the line device and a more decent full HD 1080p and more capable monitor.

All around goid value
Quick shipping arrived 2 days early than stated. Easy to hook up and best for my older system as it has a standard vga port.

Comprehensive calibration reports (three samples)
This is a great monitor, which outperforms its contrast spec.I have three of this screen; two of them I purchased from Amazon Warehouse. They’re now all calibrated, using DisplayCAL with a ColorMunki Photo and an i1DisplayPro. My settings included: 2.2 Gamma Tone Curve, XYZ LUT + Matrix, and I used 11,140 test patches. Results:sRGB Gamut Coverage: 94.5 --- 95.9 --- 93.2 (%)Average ΔE: 0.34 --- 0.45 --- 0.48Maximum ΔE: 1.41 --- 1.84 --- 1.78Static Contrast: 3,223 --- 4,778 --- 5,081 (:1)Black Level: 0.0144 --- 0.0093 --- 0.0088 (cd/m2)White Level at 0% brightness: 46.4 --- 44.4 --- 44.7 (cd/m2)----------------------------The manufacturer advertises the static contrast as only 3,000:1, so as you can see: this monitor delivers more than it promises. Out of my three monitors, even the quasi-dud at only 3,223 is above the spec. However, the other two outperform my expectation and far outperform their specification.Another unexpected surprise is the anti-glare coating. The coating is light, perhaps almost semi-gloss, and so text is very clear and the image very pure compared to (for example) many old Dell monitors. And given the small size (19.5”), it offers 113 pixels per inch (PPI). For comparison, you’ve probably seen a 23” 1080 monitor; their PPI is 95.8. And 27” monitors at 2560x1440 offer only 108.8 PPI, thus: the image is sharper with this viewsonic than with those examples.I wish it provided better sRGB gamut coverage, but it's not bad. I also wish the minimum brightness could go just a little lower. Despite those small dislikes, I'm very happy with this screen; I have three of them below my three 4k IPS monitors, and their size is almost perfect for this application. This monitor’s primary flaw, in my opinion, is the counter-intuitive button layout. The same button that opens the menu is the one that goes back in the OSD, but my expectation is to go forward. Similarly confusing, the back button is next to the up button (the one that increases rather than decreases a setting). Again, this is the inverse of an intuitive design.A little about me: I'm a portrait photographer, a computer science student, and perhaps a display aficionado.

Good size for a small desk
I bought this as my eyes are getting tired from staring at my laptop screen. This is a good extension screen and the width is perfect as I only have a small desk. The blue anti glare filter makes it easier for my eyes. The package arrived a week sooner than expected. There is a leaflet that came with the box but there was no information about how to use the buttons or change the settings. You have to download the user manual on the web instead.

Not too big, not too small, Just right!
Please note the version I bought had VGA & DVI connectors and this does not have HDMI, but this is what I was expecting and adapters are available if you need them. Too many monitors now are huge, and when working on documents I find a really large monitor is not the best. This was the perfect size. The picture is really sharp, start up is quick, and menu functions work well. The stand is sturdy but non-adjustable and I am having to use a monitor riser to get it to a comfortable height for me. Not my first view sonic product and it won't be my last. Good value. I don't know if it would be good for gaming or not.

Product does not have HDMI or USB ports
Note that the monitor does not have HDMI or USB ports, so it is unusable for a laptop. Return was subject to all kinds of conditions and fees imposed by the seller (Deal Targets). Would stay away from this seller.

Piece of garbage
Monitor worked for about 3 months and now wont connect to the CPU tower. Trying to get an exchange is the most cumbersome process ever. Will never buy from this company again and buyers should be aware that it will most likely break and you will have very little recourse.

Poor speakers
Nice monitor, crisp and clear, but the speaker barely works even at full volume you can hardly hear it, this is disappointing. You will need to add an external speaker system.
