Totally Awesome Game!
This is the best fighter making software for [the money] in the world. First of all, notice that I called it software and not a game. The gameplay is secondary. Don't expect anything close to DOA, or VF4, or Tekken. But for [the money] this is one powerful piece of software that includes a wide variety (but not an overwhelming number) of features. You can truly create a very unique fighter, given the patience. It takes time. And the satisfaction is truly rewarding, especially if you're the person who likes to tinker and experiment.I've created 8 very different fighters with different abilities, both natural and supernatural with strengths and weaknesses.Get Fighter Maker 2. It's a blast!

Fun but just basics understood.
It seemed fun. I want a game that is simple to do like armbar and then judo throw with just 2 button strikes.Or arm break tempt.Punch and single leg takedown. Just punch gets boring. Why is there little arm blocks. Our mind reacts.Just a signal from brain to.... The idea of fighter maker seems awesome. Out of 10 yrs of virtua fighter there still a difficult time with moves and annoying. It was ok. Thanks. Say no to evil. Thanks to seller. Difficult to find.

A little too much like I expected.
I chose this item because I love the concept of creation... Unfortunately I bit off more than I could chew in choosing this item, the gameplay itself is nearly identical to that of the Virtua-Fighter series but the character creation is so time consuming and painstaking you become a videogame programmer while using it. Also there is no automatic rotation and the playback is at super speeds so you have a hard time making out the end result of your created character, but overall I am not disappointed. If only I had some time off and alot more patience, I could really enjoy this game.

everything was fine and in decent condition including game manual
Bought the game used from Aidia Markets, everything was fine and in decent condition including game manual, except the disc which does not read. Disc is mostly scratchless aside from a slight chip in the center ring which is most likely why it cant start up. (it isnt an issue with the PS2 because no other games have this issue)

Somewhat of a letdown
I own both Fighter Maker 1 (for PS1) and Fighter Maker 2, and I must say I'm sorely disappointed at how Enterbrain has messed up the sequel. Sure, it's nice that I finally get to customize my fighter's appearance with hairdos and outfits, but I have to ask: WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO THE EDITING ENGINE? The creation interface is so clunky and hard to use, you'll be spending literally hours to create even a simple punch or kick move. The interface in the first game worked great, and it had several features that Enterbrain actually TOOK AWAY in FM2, like being able to hold down R1 and press left or right to preview the animation without ever leaving the screen that you're working on, or the "shadows" which allow you to match up your fighter's postion from one frame to the next. And I have to mention the camera angles: in FM1, whenever your fighter moved off the screen, the camera would actually move to center the view on him/her, but in FM2, the camera is lazy and doesn't want to go anywhere. So sometimes you'll find that you can't see what the heck you're doing to your fighter because the camera doesn't cooperate. If Enterbrain ever makes Fighter Maker 3, they'd better start by bringing back FM1's interface.

Hard to use
I like the idea of this game but character creation is too hard to use. If the main aspect of your game is character creation and creating special moves, it should be more user friendly.

but otherwise a great game. Along with the rest of the "maker" ...
A Tad complicated to get what you want done, but otherwise a great game. Along with the rest of the "maker" games, it would probably help if you're good with computers, unfortunately I'm not good with computers, hence the 4 star rating.

A hidden gem.
I am very suprised that there is not a Fighter Maker 3 after all these years. The PS3 (or even better XBox360 since that's what I got now) would be perfect for a game like this.Anyway, Fighter Maker 2 is a hidden gem for anyone who is obsessed with making your own games as I am. I have dabbled in rpgmaker maker and plenty of other makers as well but Fighter Maker 2 is still my favorite. The graphics and sound effects even for their time is pretty bad but that isn't what this game is about. The shining force behind this game is the customization and pure fun you get from making your own fighters and then watching them (I don't play the fights, I sim them lol) go at it.You can litterally do anything with this engine. On the surface it looks pretty shallow but after watching some videos on youtube I found out how to do ALOT of stuff I never would have thought of previously. You want projectiles... it's possible! You want teleportation, that is possible too. The moves in this game are only limited to the imigination of the person behind it.If you have plenty of time on your hands (expect to spend at least 2-3 weeks per character if you work on it every single day) then this is the sim fan's dream game. I currently have 6 characters and plan on filling out the roster to 8 eventually. Bottom line, it's FUN.
