Very impressed
For someone interested in special effects makeup, this is ideal. Starting off with an overview of the industry, and then chapters on anatomy, lifecasting, sculpting, casting in various mediums, hair & wigs, applying prosthetics and many others. Todd writes in a conversational and engaging style and shares knowledge openly. The anecdotes around 'beginners' mistakes were interesting and show that everyone has to start somewhere, but now the reader can avoid those pitfalls with products / techniques. Crammed full of inspiring side profiles of key figures within the industry and the effects they have been responsible for. At 500 pages, this is a real tome but due to the clear chapters and explanations, it's a book to read cover to cover or dive straight in to a particular chapter. There are loads of images and diagrams and comprehensive lists of products and their suppliers. Yes, there are loads of tutorials / information out on the web, but you have to spend time searching - this book has everything in one place. Highly recommended.

I've read many books trying to get my career in fx makeup and masks going and without a shadow of a doubt, this book is THE BOOK you need! It's written in a fantastic way that feels like you're the apprentice of a master, informal enough that the author feels like your friend but serious enough that you won't want to cut corners, he keeps you in check with his words. It covers so much and you'll be amazed what you can achieve relatively quickly. Not only a wonderful introduction but a reference to keep by your side forever more. You will love this book x

It's amazing
This book is amazing, I recommend it to anyone who wants to start making their own prosthetics. I bought this book a little while ago and it probably is one of my best investments. It includes everything that you would want to know and more.

This book is amazing and really worth the money, I really recommend it as it gives you step by step details on everything if you have never done special effects makeup and if you have its great to have to refresh your memory.This is like the bible of special effects makeup.
