Great headset at an affordable price
The title says it all.I had an older version of this headset for my PS4. I wanted a headset for my PC so I choose this one because I trust the brand. The build quality is what you expect at this price point. It's all plastic and the ear covers are a simple foam. They're comfortable, but not the best. They're a little tight for me. It's nothing I can't deal with though. The battery life is good and setup is simple. It comes with an extra cable to connect to a phone if you want.I'm still surprised at the quality of sound at this price point. They're very clear with crisp highs and lows. The mids may be a little lacking, but not enough to affect the quality. The headset creates great immersion. The surround quality is good enough. It's not entirely noise canceling, but it does cut out enough background noise. The things I don't like... The lights on the ear covers are a bright white light. It's very annoying to me if you're trying to play without any lights on in a room . The preset EQ settings are mostly useless for me. The basd and treble bass is nice, but the highs are boosted almost to much. The micro usb cable is very short. If you're looking for a quality sounding basic headset at an affordable price this is the one. I'm willing to sacrifice build quality and functionality for great sound. I wish this headset had software for customizing the sound a bit. That's the only thing lacking to me. Obviously that would raise the price quite a bit. I think most will be totally happy with the sound as long as you realize you're not going to get the quality of more expensive headsets. It's hard to choose a headset without hearing it or trying it on first. I was a little hesitant even knowing this brand and what to expect. Give it a chance. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Great as a headset, even better as headphones...
I use these primarily as headphones. Indeed, I have only used the microphone to test Skype with it. Mostly, it just sits on my desk. (If anyone plays Star Trek Online, I'd love some help setting up voice chat with these!)THE GOOD: The bass response is wicked sick! When you've got the channels (such as a DVD or Blu-Ray in Dolby 5.1 or a game in Dolby 7.1), every channel is clear and distinct. Even TV, which comes into my computer as two channels, is amazing. Somehow, the included drivers and control software recognizes it and adds virtual surround. All of the hard-coded EQ settings work well, though I generally leave it in "natural sound" mode. Superhuman hearing mode (set in the audio setting in Windows) is a FPS player's dream, as it enhances frequencies generally used for sounds such as footsteps and latches. Tip: Set a hotkey (I use F4). Mic monitoring, on the few occasions I have plugged the microphone in, is outstanding, with an independent volume control. The construction is very high quality, though the headband is plastic only, with no metal reinforcement. I was a bit wary, but it's certainly better than the PlayStation Gold headset it replaces (the headband of which snapped after about eight months of regular use). The headband is padded, and is quite comfortable, as are the earcups.THE BAD: The headband could be a tiny bit bigger. I have them adjusted all the way out, and the fit still seems a bit snug on the bottom of my ears, as if these were made for someone with a smaller head. The software is part of the device settings for the headset, and is thus not readily available for such things as switching modes. While this is more of an annoyance than a problem, it would be nice to have that particular menu more easily accessible or be able to set up a "mode switch" hotkey.THE UGLY: As the 2.4 GHz band is fairly crowded, there may be some interference, but this is brief due to the channel-hopping scheme used. Also, if the incoming signal is over-amplified (such as my local CW affiliate), loud sounds will be exceedingly distorted. This is most readily encountered when watching Supergirl (Yeah, I'm a geek), but also happens in other shows with loud, low-frequency sounds (such as explosions). When used with an input signal set to prevent clipping, they provide loud, full-spectrum sound with no distortion.CONCLUSION: If Turtle Beach made headPHONES of this quality, I would buy multiple pairs and give them out as gifts. As it is, this is the best wireless headset I have ever owned.EXTRA TIP: While a cable is included that allows one to plug the headset into a smartphone, if you have one that supports audio output via the charging/data port, the transmitter can be used with an On the Go adapter and will provide full surround sound (which the cable does not). Yes, it'll likely run the battery down a bit faster, but the better sound is worth it.

I was looking for a good wireless headset that was getting more than just three ...
When I first saw the reviews that this headset was getting, I found it a little hard to believe. I was looking for a good wireless headset that was getting more than just three and a half stars and my research was leading me to headsets that were above the $300 mark. A bit pricey, but I was considering it...until I saw this unit. I was a bit skeptical at first, but, after a few days of use (and I still haven't recharged the battery) I'm very pleased with my purchase.I'll start with the cons: upon first trying it, the headset is a little uncomfortable. The plastic is a little rigid and takes some breaking in, but I'm passed that point and they're feeling really good right now. It doesn't take long to break in, but I know that's a deal breaker for some people. Especially since there are a lot of units that are comfortable from the start. The microphone is really sensitive. I do a lot of conference calling over VoIP and I was receiving a lot of complains over the noises in the background that were getting picked up (This is not a major downfall, but it warrants mentioning). The audio isn't as rich as it is with some other options. The bass is passable, but far from captivating. Also, the unit doesn't isolate you from the noises going on around you. I was previously using a pair of Stealseries Siberia that I feel rank better on overall sound quality and were comfortable right from the start. However, that is a wired headset. My main purpose behind switching was to go wireless. With that said, this is a damn good wireless headset. The pros behind this product is 1: the range on the wireless is awesome. The fact that you're looking at a wireless headset to begin with gives away that you're looking to move around or not have wires cluttering up your work space. This definitely allows for that. I've maintained connectivity while venturing out to the parking lot of my complex and I think that a big plus. Also, while the sound isn't as good as it is on wired units, for a wireless headset the sound is actually amazing. The surround sound feature works really well and offers some surprising immersion with games and does an okay job with music. The presets that are already programmed in are really nice to have, though audiophiles may not get the satisfaction they require. While the plastic is a little rigid and has to be broken in, the quality of it is really nice. Very good aesthetics that I feel are on part with some of the over $300 headsets that I've seen. Overall, with the amount of features that it has, the microphone that picks up everything and its mother, the surround sound (With some adequate bass), the range of the connectivity and the price tag - I love this headset. I would recommend it if you're looking for something that is under $150 but still gives you some auditory satisfaction (for a wireless unit).
