Bird Bath Raft (Set of 1)

it is well made (albeit not pretty to look at) and sturdy
Works well...I wished they made these in a smaller size...if you are considering purchasing **pay close attention to the measurements** I did not and had to actually buy a vesel to put this item inside....the floaty is HUGE! However, it is well made (albeit not pretty to look at) and sturdy....and keeping birds and insects from drowning trumps any aesthetic wishes for me...

Butterfly waterer?
This works fine in my stock-tank pond. I saw a flock of goldfinches drinking out of it on morning. Roght now it's providing water for wasps and flies (Arizona). My plan is to try lining the bottom with a circle of landscape cloth covered with some sand as a watering hole for butterflies, but if that's too heavy, I'm happy to go back to birds and bugs.

But what fun is that?
The product looks and performs exactly as promised, except in one key particular: no birds! We floated it in early June and we're still waiting for bird one. Our pond is deep with no shallow entries and so the backyard bird visitors are not in the habit of hanging around the pond. We're still waiting for that first feathered Einstein to figure things out. In the meantime, the frogs will occasionally use it. But what fun is that? We see those guys sitting around all the time.

They will get a little algae growing in them, but strong stream of water can remove it,
This Bird bath raft is sturdy, well made, and functions just as described. The birds haven’t decided to use it yet; at least I haven’t seen them use it, but time will tell. The only other thing I would like is for there to be a smaller version as well (say, 8 inches in diameter); I have a couple tall, narrow pots that are used to hold water, and birds use them to drink from, but can’t bathe in them.

this is a nifty raft for birds
I purchase this raft after looking on Amazon for something that I wanted but wasn't sure even existed. the great thing about Amazon is it shows many products and I found this Bird Bath Raft... which is exactly what I wanted. I read the other reviews and they were happy with the product so I purchased one. I was looking for something to place into water features that might be a bit too deep for birds, since I know most wild birds (like finches) won't go into water that they think is too deep (2" or greater in depth) or doesn't have an edge for them to stand. They like shallow water. so, this product seemed perfect. my backyard is already a bird oasis so there are many different water features for them to choose from. I placed this into a Mexican Talavera bird bath and so far, so good. good price, good quality and it actually does float like a raft. i'm happy and the birds are too! :)

Very clever idea
I bought a very nice bird bath for my birds--and no bird would touch it. I tried to figure it out and the only problem I could see was the depth of the bowl might make the water too deep. So I tried putting less water in it, tried added a rock to make it more shallow. But still it got no use. I finally started googling words like bird bath liner. I hit on the raft and saw Amazon carried it and it wasn't $50 to try it. It does resolve the deep water issue really well. It can also make a bird bath out of any container no matter the depth. No more being limited to someone else's idea of a nice looking and effective bird bath. And, yes, it took the birds awhile to test the water so to speak but I've seen it being used and that makes me happy. Thanks, Amazon, for another great product at a great price.

too large for any reasonable container
I did not pay attention to the dimensions, this is my fault, not the manufacturer. It is too big for a 5 gallon bucket. I am going to have to buy something to put it in. I would have liked it to be a little bit smaller. Maybe a plastic tub for washing dishes will work.

Great idea
Great idea; just needs to be weighted down. I've a brass cat in the middle and it works fine.
