Super Duper tool for the War on Bugs!
Generally speaking, I love bugs - outside - when they serve vital roles in the ecosystem. However I absolutely completely totally despise bugs INSIDE my home!My husband has one of *those* ex's. You know the types. The ones you shudder when reading about in the newspaper. You know, when the article describes the Filth. The stench. And the horror of horrors - thousands... if not millions... of... BUGS. When the kids were going back and forth for alternating weekends, first when they were still living primarily The Bug Life then when the courts intervened on their behalf and they only rarely but still occasionally were remembered and still had to go visit the infestation, those damn bugs would hide in E V E R Y T H I N G. Tennis shoes. Jeans. Jackets. Winter coats. Backpacks. Nothing was immune. Nothing sacred. Not even Favorite Toys. In our Defense from the Bugs we had to install hooks on the porch for their belongings until it could be Bug Inspected. I honestly never thought bugs could infest a vehicle. It got sooo bad driving down the highway to about crash when the Bug Army ran across the dash straight at me! It honestly took a Bug Bomb every week for a month to finally declare victory. Seriously. I had no idea.Poor kids. They totally didn't get it. A normal childhood does not entail a lifetime of Battling Bugs. Bugs that crawl in your ear when you're sleeping. Bugs that poop on your toothbrush. Bugs in the microwave. Bugs in the fridge. I still cry at night grieving for the innocence of childhood they so desperately missed. They somehow thought it was about them. It was always about those darn nasty filthy Bugs. When one bug somehow got through Bug Inspection, when one egg sac hatched in a girl's purse lining or hem of clothing, the war was on. Bug War!Btw, Did that restaurant have any idea the "home-baked pies" were from a kitchen shared with the entrenched Bug Army?Anyway, these Tomcat's are the absolute perfect solution as a first line defense. The glue traps are soooo easy to store in bulk, either flat or folded into trifolds to save space. They are treated with an attractant specifically for cockroaches however they'll catch anything that crawls through their path.We have this under-the-stairs closet sort of Harry Potter style. I store the extra unused traps on a shelf of this closet. The attractant seems to draw any cockroaches from the far corners of our home to this closet. Maybe the warm ductwork helps. Or maybe the adjacent bathroom so they can get a drink. Whatever, the rare visiting bugs somehow have deciced this is the conference room. On the floor of this closet I usually have several of these types of glue traps set up. I'll normally place other traps strategically around our home tucked safely away from curious pets. Especially closets near bathrooms or dark, damp, warm places. Any creepy crawly which goes through will remain stuck til discarded. So easy to check, most night crawlers tend to be darker so they stand out against the white background. Folded up or laid flat, either way is easy to see. Even when that occasional cricket or silverfish finds its way inside, or those super hairy House Centipedes, yep they get reeeaaaally stuck too! This is where it's really helpful to buy a Reacher Grabber tool. I store it in the closet with extra glue traps. Then it's super easy to go through and take any bugged up traps to the trash without physically TOUCHING the buggy traps! Be sure to replace any discarded traps with a fresh trap. It's easiest when they're folded. Before placing the new glue trap just remember to remove the protective paper from the glue!If you too are as determined as I am to keep bugs OUT of the home, cleaning with essential oils including tea tree oil, peppermint, lavendar, CLOVES, lemons, oranges, rosemary, lemongrass etc are each beneficial. And your home will smell yummy too. Spearmint, lemon, orange, vanilla and lemongrass together in a mini humidifier is so reminiscent of a fresh baked Lemon Cake! Can't sleep at night? You'll sleep better and breathe easier with lavender and eucalyptus on duty shielding the bugs away.I hope you have as much success as we've had on the War on Bugs. Next week will be 18 years we've managed to stay firmly committed to each other despite those who've tried to wedge us apart. So far, knocking on wood, United Together we've managed to keep those bugs at bay.My only suggestion to Tomcat: Besides the 3 pack or 4 pack, I'd like to see the Bulk Pack of a dozen or more. This is vital for anyone dealing with the Bug Person in their life!

This is the best roach trap I've ever purchased and I won't go back to anything else short of a professional extermination service.

excellent!
Here in NM, we have outdoor cockroaches. Sometimes they come indoors. Stomping the nasty monsters has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. The roaches are big and gross, but dont result in infestations if you just keep clean and stomp the ones you see. But then a few weeks ago, I found a little bitty dirty house roach. The kind that are evidence of an infestation. It was crawling around inside the box of a pie that I had just purchased from a membership club warehouse store that rhymes with loslo. It was pretty clear that the roach came with the pie, but I started to worry. What if it came from my house?I set all three of these little traps around my kitchen for two weeks. Not a single roach got stuck. This was good news; it tells me that the roach came from the store, not from my house (I will also never again by a pie from the unnamed membership club warehouse store that rhymes with loslo. So how can I say these are effective? After assuring myself that my kitchen was clear, I put all three out in the front yard for a night outside the spray zone of my bi-monhly pest control. After just a single night, each of the traps had several nasty buggers stuck to it. So they work. I cant say how many didnt get stuck, but it at least caught a few. And, if you catch a few (inside), that tells you you have a problem that needs more serious treatment than some simple glue traps.

They do work, but aren't the best of their type
In the warm, humid climate where I live cockroaches are always a problem. I stopped using pesticides long ago, and instead have used glue traps with a non-toxic bait. I've used many traps made by Hoy Hoy and they really work well. If I have an infestation, within a week they'll be full of roaches. Then I just throw them out and put out new ones. They don't get rid of the problem completely but they do reduce the population substantially. The secret is in the bait; I've used another brand very similar to Hoy Hoy that doesn't work as well, and I believe it's because it uses a different bait that's not as effective. Even the Hoy Hoy bait seems to work for only a couple of weeks, however; after that the cockroaches just ignore the traps.Moving to these Tomcat traps, which operate on the same principle, I noticed I have quite a few roaches these days so I put three traps in my kitchen. After the first day, nothing. After the second day, nothing. After the third day, two roaches in one of the traps. My conclusion: these Tomcat traps do work, but not as well as the Hoy Hoy traps.

Reasonably Effective, Kludgy Assembly
In the tropics, roaches are unfortunately a fact of life. It's less a matter of cleanliness and more an issue of balmy weather, single-wall construction, and ease of entry into carports/garages (and into the house by squeezing in along water-supply lines and such). For this reason, I'm plenty familiar with remedies, and have found that setting baited glue traps in the cabinet under the kitchen sink, in a rear corner of the pantry, and even under the front seat of a car is a handy and pretty cheap way to get an early warning that these pests are trying to invade. These particular traps did a good job of attracting and capturing roaches, but I docked a star for the assembly. The "house" does not fold and stay together as reliably as other brands I've used. I took off another star because in a rather gross but effective side-by-side test in a rental car this summer, a Tomcat trap caught 6 roaches, while the other brand I used snared 11. (I had to swap the car after 2 days for an unrelated issue or I would have run the test longer, which is why I am not subtracting more stars.)
