Perfect for Digital AV transfer.
If you have FireWire ports and need to transfer digital AV then this is the lead for you, after unsuccessfully attempting to use USB leads I switched to this and it works perfectly.

Nice quality lead
Bought to connect ( with other adaptors ) my old JVC palmcorder to my Mac computer to download old tapes to digital. Worked perfectly and the connections are good and not loose like some leads you get.

Good value for money but a tight fit
Purchased for transferring mini DV cassettes to a Mac via a camcorder. Cable did the job, but the metal shroud on the 4 pin end was not perfectly formed and required some force to fit into the connection.

Steer clear of this
Utter rubbish. Do not buy. The manufacturing tolerance for the 4 pin connector is out so will not fit into the 1394 pin on my my Toshiba laptop. Amazon also says this item is in-eligible for return.

Used it to connect an old DVR Sony Handy Cam to my MAC
Good cable, I used it to connect an old DVR Sony Handy Cam to my MAC. It does not connect into a MAC directly, so I also purchased an apple thunderbolt to FireWire connector (4x the price of this!) that this cable plugs into and the apple thunderbolt to FireWire connector is the piece that actually goes into my MAC.

Cable does the job
The cable works well in copying from mini DV tape to laptop once the connections are all set. Initially, I had to struggle a bit to insert the 4pin into my Camcorder.

Acheté déjà depuis un moment. La longueur est un critère de durabilité. En effet, plus le câble est long moins il subit de contraintes de torsion. Les câbles courts finissent par lâcher à cause des contraintes qu'on leur impose. C'est plus encombrant mais ça dure plus longtemps pour résumer.

Ich habe es gekauft um Videos von ein alten Digicam auf PC zu übertragen. PC hat jede Anschluss außer Firewire. War mir sicher es hat eine LOL

The FireWire 4 pin end of the cable does not fit the Cannon HV30 camera so this product is not suitable for the purpose of downloading video files. I will need to return it.
