This is probably the worst way to seal the sleeve
The design of the sealing surface on the quartz sleeve is silicone to to rigid plastic. This is probably the worst way to seal the sleeve. The UV light dried out the silicone and the seal fails. The unit I purchased from a LFS lasted maybe 3 months w/o a problem (except for the garbage fittings). I did correct the first problem but other flaws began to show over the 8 months of service. The fittings are complete trash, also if you use the stand the water leaks directly into the electronic ballast and ruins it. This product need to be complete redesigned to even be remotely worth anyone's time to try to maintain. This unit is on a customers tank that I service, sadly it made a huge mess and I removed it from service. At home have other brands and no problems with over 2+ years of service and 5 bulb changes.
