Digital SLR Cameras & Photography for Dummies

I am new to the DSLR world, having just bought my first camera less than a month ago. I decided to do some reading to help improve my picture quality. I originally borrowed this book from my library. I decided to pony up the cash after I realized I had written down several chapters in their entirety to scan before returning. A few reasons I like it:- It was just published this year, so it's current (it's the 4th edition, make sure to get that one if you decide to buy)- It covers a little bit of everything DSLR related starting from picking out a DSLR to how to edit prints, even a chapter on learning how to use the video. All information is very easy to understand, balancing technical terms with laymen's terms, and it provides a lot of great color examples to help guide you through examples.- Overall, just a great reference book to have around. I know Google has everything, but personally, I still love having a good book around for reference. I am a little surprised to find a "dummies" book helpful, but I think I just don't really like the name "dummies". After liking this one so much I am definitely going to explore other topics as my hobbies expand.

If you are new to the world of photography, then this book is a must in your cup-board. It tells you exactly what is photography and what is Digital photography and how one can improve their photography skills.

This book/DVD combo is great, it is very informative and easy to use. The DVD goes through each major point of the book and it gives you the visual some us need to get the concept down. I love it and I refer to both boob and DVD when ever I am going to take my camera out.

It was not simple enough for me. Helpful in many ways. I would have liked it even more basic.. really?

this book/dvd is helpful for the photographer as a beginnner or anyone that wants to learn more or rediscover any basic photography skills. many books out there, i chose this one and am glad i did.

I have so much camera equipment that I don't know how to use. If it's not automatic, I can't do it. I want to be able to use more of my camera's capability. This is the book for me. I have always found the "Dummies" series to be helpful no matter what the topic. This one is no exception.

Very helpful for someone buying a digital SLR for the first time. Would have liked more information on the selection of lenses.

I have always loved taking pictures so for Christmas my husband bought me this book and an SLR camera so i could start to learn how to take my own photos rather than going to a store once a month to get professional photos. Its a good book but i ended up returning it as its not exactly what i was looking for.
