Decent device, so far
Updated after almost 2months of use - in FebruaryPurchased this device as a curiosity, not knowing exactly what to expect. The information available on the internet about this device is scarce. It came from China, faster than the expected delivery date. Packaging protection was minimal but everything was in good condition (it comes in a small plastic box with a basic manual, a short USB cable and an antenna).Construction:General appearance and construction is ok. However, the memory slot cannot hold the memory chip inside. I had to use tape to keep the memory chip properly inserted inside the memory slot. I use a 16 Gb which was recognized without any issues (after using the tape).Plugged the device into the HDMI port of my Samsung and it ran fine from the start. It is powered by one of the TV USB ports.Switching to a 0.7A USB power adapter caused the device to crash. It probably needs higher current or a better power supply.Functionality:It comes, I believe, with Android 4.2. Android market is pre-installed and works fine.Netflix also works fine, with decent/good image quality. Browsing is also ok. Alternate browsers will be required in order to enable Flash content.Skype is also working fine but the camera feed quality is relatively low, the image being out of focus - an issue that I don't think that can be fixed. Measy also sells a dedicated adapter/support that allows an easier positioning. I did not buy this adapter though. For this reason, I ordered a HDMI male to female cable, in order to be able to move the device in a location that allows camera use.Wireless connection is generally fine, no annoying disconnects but my router is within 2 ft though.XBMC installs and works fine.Installed several games but it is difficult to play without a proper controller. However, the graphics and the game itself were both fine. I use a keyboard, which is decent for general use, but it is not adequate as a gaming controller. Having a good keyboard/controller is essential in case of these devices. Some Android mini-pcs can be configured to use gaming controllers (e.g. six-axis controllers) or to be controlled using a tablet or a phone. These features requires root access. Since this device doesn't seem to be very common, I was unable to find a custom ROM. Other devices have these custom ROMs readily available. However, I know that a custom ROM exists, as I've seen somewhere a post regarding this issue.I also experienced several crashes, but only in conjunction with specific applications and the power supply. Not too many though. Conclusion:I've been using the device for almost 2 weeks and everything seems to be ok so far. The only major issue is the lack of widespread community support (read customizations). Available information is also scarce. However, these issues are unrelated to the device itself, which appears to be just fine with its stock ROM. At the same time, other similar devices (without camera) may have better community support and available tweaks.

great 'tablet-less' alternative to Android platform in my living room ...
Three to four stars for the U4C (I'm not thrilled with the lack of Video support via HDMI). That being said, great 'tablet-less' alternative to Android platform in my living room using a 40" Sony and with most apps. I use a Logitech DeNovo keyboard (with trackpad) from 10ft away and no problems for 2 years now. Add a mini-sd card for more internal storage. This has lasted longer than my 3 previous cellphones.
