Very gorgeous and very useful
This guidebook is extremely handy as a reference when playing through the game. It is also a joy to flip through due to the quality of the pages, the beauty of the art, and the way the information is presented. The most detailed sections are the maps (which I found the most helpful) and the data, which contains giant tables of every item, ability, and NPC in the game along with everything you would want to know about each. And, as a completionist, the section on the side stories was a lifesaver.I would highly recommend this guide to anyone who is interested in the game!

Very Helpful!
I don't think the people writing negative reviews understand how the game works. I found this guide to really help keep me on track. I play a lot of RPGs and sometimes like having a guide. This game would not be as enjoyable without this. It would be tough at times to find the next location.

Great addition to your guide collection !!
As a great game Octopath Traveler was I’m glad it got a strategy guide its a nice addition. It has nice little bio’s on all characters of course this isn’t an opened world game so don’t go expecting detailed maps on how to go exploring but it does give you information and locations on items , side quest , enemies, and quick info on each boss encounter. Everything is labeled in alphabetical/numbers so you know what exact item or quest you are doing or trying to find on the maps of each area you are in. It has amazing beautifully detailed art as a guide collector I’m well pleased with this purchase and if you manage to get it on sale it’s even a more better reason to add it to your collection.

Waste of Money
I would hope that, after 2+ years since the game released, this guide could at least match the information you would find in online wikis (for free), yet it struggles to accomplish this minor feat. For starters, despite being touted as a "complete guide," this tome has a walkthrough portion that lasts 16 pages. Each character (there are 8) has one page devoted to the actual walkthrough portion (presented as a barebones flowchart of major events) and one page devoted to describing the major boss fights. Even then, these boss blurbs make no mention of the bosses HP, nor the recommended levels to tackle each foe.The "strategy" tips provided are so amateur that I would laugh if the sting from wasting money on this book didn’t hurt so bad. Here’s one for Olberic:"Many events in Olberic’s path involve battle, some of which require him to fight on his own. Victorino and Archibold in Chapter 2 are particularly strong, so get your party to level 30 before continuing the story. Procure good equipment and learn job skills before facing these foes."That is, word for word, the entirety of the text portion of Olberic’s walkthrough. I’m omitting the boss tips because they are just as anemic and unhelpful. The guide is essentially saying “get good gear and level up," a statement so blatant when discussing rpgs that it needn’t be mentioned. The boss strategies have gems like "break [the boss to] deal some real damage" and "be sure to watch your HP." How are these tips helpful in any way? People that never played this game could provide similar insight. And this is all you get in terms of a walkthrough for each character: a two sentence blurb that states the obvious. That ought to be enough said to deter anyone from buying this thing. It gets worse. The side stories are all presented in an enormous text chart, with characters and specific locations denoted with codes like “A-16" and "B-29." The guide states that these codes refer to locations and townspeople in the map references, hidden deeper within the book. One critical problem: this side story chart does not reference which page you can find these icons. It would have been useful to say "A-16, pg. 51" so I would know to turn to page 51 to find that reference point on the map. Instead it just says "A-16." That code is meaningless on its own. Here’s an example:"Use Guide or Allure on F-30 in Marsalim to temporarily add them to your party."That’s all the guide says for this side story. Where is F-30? No idea. It took me a full minute to find out on that it’s on page 65, just sifting through the maps one page at a time. By that point, I forgot why I was looking for F-30.Likewise, the maps are peppered with these codes, but you cannot tell which sub story belongs to which code just from reading the map page; you need to constantly sift back and forth through this book just to figure out what these codes mean.Worse still, the maps are not fully translated. Japanese script has been left in the book for every single map. Rather than denoting an item’s location on a map with a letter or number, it uses Katakana, which is a Japanese alphabet. This is such a blatant oversight that I believe no human proofread this book, as I caught this instantly. It’s prevalent on every single map. All of them. The characters have brief bios that outline their stats in increments of 25 levels. In other words, you can’t see what their stats are at levels 12 or 33 or 67; only at levels 1, 25, 50, and 99. Why bother presenting incomplete information in a "complete guide?" Not that this particular page dedicated to this information is of any merit to begin with. There is a scenario that takes place after all 8 character stories are completed. I thought this guide omitted this information, as it cannot be found in the walkthrough portion, but on a single page (page 179) - 145 pages after the walkthrough ends. It is a single page detailing more vague tips like "break the enemy" and "[use the] items used in the battle against Redeye." How are these strategies? This is a guide; at least state the name of the final boss. Spoilers are a given with guides, so why the vagueness? I came for tips; give me tips.10 pages are dedicated to some nice concept art, but nearly 30 pages are dedicated to some non-canon tabletop-role-playing scenario involving characters from the game, presented in a movie script format. I am beyond dumbfounded that this section is almost double the length of the complete walkthrough.I love collecting guides despite their obsolescence these days. Wikis provide more information in a more digestible format, but the fun of flipping through guides is timeless. Except with this guide; nothing is fun. The text is microscopic and the information is worthless. This guide is, without exaggeration, not even worth procuring for FREE. Nothing here is of value. It is a complete and utter waste of money. Please do yourself a favor and ask a homeless man that doesn’t speak your tongue for tips and pay him $30; you’ll get the same value.

Bring your reading glasses
If you're over 40, bring your readers. There's an incredible wealth of knowledge and data, but unfortunately I can't read it because the font is so ....ing small.Beautiful book, worth the money. I ordered new reading glasses. Maybe I'll be able to read this.
