Joe's USA - Youth Heavyweight Cotton Short Sleeve T-Shirt

I know I am the odd one out with this review, since the shirt is designed for youth/boys. Be that as it may, I'm a short fully-grown man at around 5'4" and it is what it is – sadly I sometimes have to shop in the boy's section. I wanted to share my experience of this shirt in case there are any other short men out there looking at this. It fits well! I've ordered a few over the past couple years in both Large and Extra Large, which I assume are designed to fit teenagers still growing. Well for those of us who stopped growing, this is perfect. The fit is average so it's not too slim nor is it too baggy. The fabric is fine, nothing special but also I can comfortably wear it all day no problem. The color swatch options are a nice selection of dark and muted tones which goes well with my general wardrobe, allowing me to easily pair these with anything from very casual to slightly dressed-up casual with a denim jacket or blazer.I still spend money on getting my pants and jackets tailored because there's nothing quite like having a proper fit (especially for short men), but as you may know tailoring really adds up. It's nice to have a selection of decent go-to basic tees that I can buy every season and don't have to worry about getting tailored just to fit. Yes many menswear and luxury brands might have higher-quality t-shirts with super soft fabric, but if you're under 5'6" you will *always* have to get it tailored to fit, otherwise it just looks baggy and makes you look even shorter than you are. Spend your money where it counts on tailoring nicer pants, dress shirts, and outerwear – and stick to these for basic tees you know will look good and also no big deal if you get a stain or rip since they are pretty cheap. Hope that helps someone out there!

My husband loved the Joe USA T's that he ordered for himself so i thought i'd try the children's versions. This one is just ok for the following reasons:1. the color is not what i expected. It's brighter than the picture (i purchased the orange) and in reality it is like the inside of a very ripe cantaloupe. If you can imagine that color, that's what the shirt that arrived looks like.2. it didn't wash well at all. I washed it when it arrived prior to wearing and it came out as crushed as crushed can be. I like to iron so it was ok i thought. But upon ironing it (with steam) it didn't go back to how it looked when it arrived. You can still see the wrinkles, the iron just made them a little smoother, but you can still see them :) Now it just looks like flat wrinkles. LOL!3. after i washed it just that one time, some threads came loose. Not a good sign for future washings.I haven't given it my son to wear yet due to my disappointments there was no enthusiasm to have him wear it soon. So i don't know what the shirt is like after 2 or more washings. I wasn't impressed with after just one wash, so.What i do like:1. it's a heavy weight cotton so my son can play outside in the Fall in it with a jacket and he would be comfortable.2. even though the color isn't as pictured, it's still a happy bright Fall color for children.I would be hesitant to purchase any more of these shirts. The logo is a little different than my husband's so there is a possibility that the shirt i received is not genuine Joe's brand. If i do happen to order anymore I'll compare the tags before washing so i can return it if it appears to be a knock-off. Still hesitant though since that would just be wasting my time if I get another fake.

For back to school shopping, I had a hard time finding solid color t-shirts in great colors at the big box retail stores, so I tried Amazon. I ordered this Russell Big Boys' Youth Nublend t-shirt, MJ Soffe Big Boys Youth Pro Weight Short Sleeve and Joe's USA Youth Heavyweight Cotton Short Sleeve--all ordered in Youth Small. This review is for the Joe's brand.My 8 year old loved the fit of this Joe's shirt in Youth Small. The sleeves hit above his elbows, and the fit was not too tight or too loose. The yellow color is gorgeous. Out of the three shirts I ordered, this is my favorite and I've reordered now in blue.FWIW: Between the three shirts, the Joe's USA did fit my son the best, but that was just his experience. The Russell brand fit well, but the sleeves were just a little bit long for my preference. The Soffe was too small.

Very comfortable, breathable, great color.

its very hard to find a butter yellow t shirt. Either they are too bright or too pastel. This is that perfect in between. The fabric feels cotton and sturdy, and from experience, I'm sure it will shrink but have not washed it yet to prove it. It is true to size as is.

The material feels heavy weight and didn't get misshapened in the wash.I ordered a second one!!
