"A Nutty Story" has become an instant favourite of my 8 year old and 4 year old daughters. They just love it! My wife and I are an Indian couple living in the US and we are always looking for books that deal with Indian culture and traditions for our children's expanding library. What's great fun about "A Nutty Story" is that it is told as a catchy rhyme. It deals with and Indian art/craft form but also weaves in themes of family, friendship and life on a coconut plantation. It made me very nostalgic for my home in India. And brought back memories of my mother, grandmothers, aunts who did amazing arts and crafts with so little resources. Shailja's illustrations are rich and beautifully complement Anuradha's warm and sweet story. We highly recommend this book and give it five stars.

Charming!
This was a charming and clever story. It was also lovely to learn traditions from such a beautiful culture.

A sweet book which kids will love!
A wonderful book that leads kids into an exotic world of traditional Indian life where families live amid groves of palm tress and coconuts are fasioned into dolls. And all written in rhyme that is by turns charming and witty, and always easy to understand. An added bonus is that the rhymes will help children learn how to pronounce the Indian names. A great way to introduce kids to the exotic world out there, and beautifully illustrated!
