Being from Sweden, IceBugs knows more than they might want to admit about winter. Not only the postcard pretty, snowy landscape type, but anything from -25C, over slush to the modern city version of +5C with the rain blowing hard into your face and the streets flooding. The real icebugs survive by creating an anti-freeze protein in their bodily fluids. We humans can't resort to that. But warn, dry feet and outstanding traction is a good way of staying mobile and increasing the chances of making it through, even keeping the spirits up.

I ordered a half size up as recommended by other reviewers and they fit. The traction on these shoes is great on ice, and I really wanted to love these. For me it falls short as a running shoe. They don't have enough cushion to be comfortable on a long run. I did 7 miles in these yesterday ended up with sore feet.

Ice Running Potential
I bought these shoes to run a half marathon in icy conditions. I haven't had the chance to trial these shoes running on ice yet, but they are light, sturdy shoes that look like they will be perfect for the race!

The best for sidewalk winter walking
Great shoes. Fit is exactly as expected and excellent. They work better than anything else I have tried on ice and slippery surfaces. No problem losing cleats. I walk every day in Owen Sound Ontario and we get 5m of snow a year. The city doesn't do a great job on the sidewalks (actually pathetic) so they are often rutted, frozen and slippery. Sand?? Never. These shoes work well. Only concern is that they aren't very warm. I wear wool socks so while walking I am warm but at outdoor events when standing around, my feet can get cool. In the past I have tried all the traction aids and these shoes work better than any of them. Two other important things: you can't feel the cleats when walking, so a lot more comfortable than add-on cleats, and the cleats sort of push in when walking in stores so it's not slippery on tile. I have even grocery shopped in them.
