When I first received the remote it did not work. I was very upset because it was hard finding this remote. Genie does not make them anymore. The remote had a battery in it and since it didn't work, I replaced it with a new one. It still didn't work. I made sure I had the 12 codes matching. Again, it didn't work. I was about to email the sender and send it back when I decided to read the instructions. It said I had to use an Eveready battery. I had a Duracell battery and it did not work. I went to a dollar store and bought an Eveready 9v battery and it worked just fine. I gave it 4 stars because of the inconvenience it caused me and the fact that I'm limited on the type of battery I have to use for the remote to work.

With my old remote, I had to get out of the car and stand by the garage door to activate the garage door opener. Obviously, it was time to retire that old remote. With this one, I can click the button while still on the street. The range is not as good as my neighbors who can push the button half a block away, but they have the newer garage door opener. My opener is 23 years old. Just finding a remote which will operate my garage door opener is amazing. Why 4 stars instead of 5? The price. I know it is a supply and demand world, but the difference in price between this unit and remotes for the newer remote is extreme.

I really like the larger remote. Very easy to program. I am still unable to program the smaller one.I’m not able to program the GENIEMASTER 3 Button Remote

On August 20th, 2011 I ordered (2) Genie GT912-1BL 9/12 Switch Remote Controllers.  In August of 2011 we had just moved into a new apartment.  The owner had done some surface cosmetic work but it was still quite rough around the edges.  It was difficult to find an apartment that met our needs so we decided to exchange a little work for reduced rent.  The first thing we needed was to be able to open the garage door.  The house didn't come with any remotes so these were a must have.  These worked well, it took a little fiddling to get them programmed properly but once I read the pins properly they worked as expected. Seller: Amazon LLCCondition: NewPurchase price: $24.21  Ea. When I recently purchased my home, there was no remote for the garage door. After lots of research on the web, I found this remote, along with instructions on how to find the code needed to make it work. As soon as it arrived, I opened it up, set the dip switches according to what I found in the opener's circuitry, and gave it a try. Imagine my surprise when it actually worked! Phase 1 was accomplished.My vehicle has a ceiling-mounted place to stash a garage door opener, and has a convenient button on the outside that mates up with the opener. That's the theory, at least. Unfortunately, this opener is a bit too large to fit in the pocket reserved for it, so Phase 2 required the use of the included wire clip to attach the opener to one of the visors. It's not as elegant as the car's design might have yielded, but it works.

These old model remotes are scarce but I overpaid for this one by a lot. Works great. Three stars for price.

Perfect replacement or spare remote for almost any genie garage door. Nice that this one remote functions with both 9 or 12 switch openers. Just match the switch settings and it's ready to use.Great added plus that it also comes with a battery. Small detail, but who thinks of having a battery at hand, and how frustrating to receive this, be all ready to use it, and have to go buy a battery yourself.A week ago, I needed a replacement remote for another property. I bought this identical one at Home Depot for double this price. I needed it immediately, so had to buy it.I saw this identical one here and bought it to have as a spare.
