My First Encyclopedia of Animals (Kingfisher First Reference)

Very basic and mostly illustration
I bought this book because the biology curriculum we use for homeschooling required it. This book is way too basic even for a kindergartener. I also expected the book to have real pictures of animals, but most of them are illustrations. The information provided are not organized well. For example, some pages mention what the animals eat in details while the other pages don't mention their food at all. I'm very disappointed.

Just lovely for preschool & early elementary
Our co-op recommends this for 1st &2nd grade and it’s fantastic! I appreciate that the descriptions are shorter and simpler- my children's comprehension with this is fantastic. We can always look up more information if they’re really curious about a specific animal. I love the beautiful and not so busy illustrations. Many of these books have text and picture overload in my opinion. My 2nd grader can read a lot of this by himself and actually wants to!
