Needle Felting for Beginners

No dislikes for this one! The author thoroughly takes you step by step into needle felting. It can be very confusing as to which wools are best and trying to differentiate the different needles and their uses. However, this book explains in plain language how to get going in this fun craft.

I love the animal projects. Great beginners book.

Great tips on supplies and instructions for beginning, and even intermediate, needle felters. Many great projects with all the instructions you need to make them.

I want to give this book 5 stars. I really do. But with no Text-to-Speech for some of us, it is hard to read. Maybe I could give it 4.5? Because...It is the perfect book for a felting newbie. It really does start with cookie cutter easy felts. And there are a few websites to go to from the book. Too bad they aren't links. And you can't copy the URLs to paste into an address bar, so ... just not as well formatted as it could be.STILL, for those just getting started on this craft, this may be the best book to get. I have 'leafed' through it several times on several of my readers. The best one is the PC Kindle as the pictures and fonts are much larger.Maybe a warning I just picked up on, one shouldn't use upholstery foam because it has fire-retardant. I cut up an old neck pillow that I gave up on a while ago. Since I've already spent my fun cash for this new hobby, I can't afford another. But I'll try to get a new felting cushion soon. I hope I don't get to the point of it being dust that would be bad for my lungs.So get this book if you can. There's a lot to learn in it despite the formatting.

Learning to make felted crafts is easy with this excellent book! The author begins by explaining the different kinds of wool used, the needle gauges most commonly needed, and various bases for safely securing your project as you work. This book has lots of clear, close-up photos to give confidence to beginners. It gives step-by-step instructions for making a simple heart ornament, then progresses in difficulty to a 2-D bunny, an owl, a sheep, a snowman, and then finishes with a braided, wet-felted drink coaster. The end pages of the book give references for where to purchase supplies, and mentions the author's next book for learning more advanced felting.If you've seen and admired cute felted projects but weren't sure where to start learning, this is the perfect book. It's easy to read and understand, and gives tips on shortcuts and helps the user avoid mistakes. With bunnies being my favorite animal, I'm going to try that project first, and will update my review with a photo.

Using it as a tutorial to learn needle felting.

I am very pleased with this book. I needed to know what to "know" before I began blindly shopping on Amazon to get started with this craft. I found Lori's information to be straightforward, easy to comprehend and encouraging. I love the step-by-step pictures that accompany each project so I have a visual guideline to follow in addition to the text. I am even more excited to get started learning a new skill. Thanks for a great source for beginners!

This is a simple and nice guide to needle felting and the description is very clear and helpful for the absolute beginner.I would have liked to have seen slightly better finished objects and perhaps a few aspirational pieces that show where needle felting can take you and give the customer a look into the future which is why I have given it a 4.I got this free and if I were to buy if at retail I would not want to pay a great deal for it, but I do think if it retails at a relatively low price it is worth having for the beginner and any crafters looking to do a simple demonstration.I would have liked to have seen more links and sources at the end and pictures showing the real art of needle felting which need not just be cutesy but can produce realistic objects and indeed fine art. Unfortunately I have not been offered an opportunity to post pics of the sort of thing I am talking about, but google needle felting realistic and needle felting fine art.I recommend beginners to join needle felting forums on Facebook to increase their knowledge and see where felting can take them.The Russian felters are the supreme level and what they can achieve is breathtaking.For the dedicated beginner, youtube is a fantastic source of information and I recommend Uniquely Felt by Christine White as an all round felting guide. I also recommend Andrea Hunter.

This is a great book for someone wanting to start needle felting. After doing a class I wanted to do more and this book answered most of my questions and the projects gave me inspiration and even showed me thing I didnt realise you could do with needle felting!

I found this book informative and very easy to follow as I had not three this craft before it has certainly got my interest and my first animal was quite successful for a first attempt and my interest in the draft has also increased there was also good information on the tools required and were to source them as a beginner i would recommend e this book

This book was recommended to me by a friend as I said I would love to have a go.Now, having read this book, I did have a go and.....well.....Im totally hooked, I love this. I love my new hobby.Sorry to all my family and friends, not only will you not see me for a while, but guess what all your Christmas presents are you going to be!!!!

This is great if you are a total beginner to the craft and want to learn the basics. The pictures are clear and easy to understand and you will be able to make something very quickly by following the step by step instructions. Fun little starter projects and hopefully you will get the felting bug and continue onto something more complex.
