Very good overview of vintage 60's era of Ray Charles!
Really satisfied with this 20 track overview of the late, legendary Ray Charles' Anthology on CD. Although the UPC code matched on my CD, the album cover photo and songs were different than advertised. Instead of concluding the CD with the excellent remake of America, The Beautiful, my copy had inserted a minor hit called Sticks and Stones for Track 16 and ended the disc with a good cover of Born To Lose, also a #41 pop hit. Despite these minor shortcomings, I was really elated to get vintage Ray Charles' choice singles at a competitive pricepoint. In addition, the sound quality on this Rhino reissue was really good for such old recordings from mostly the 1960's era. Thanks to Amazon for making these classic recordings available to music fans everywhere, including myself!

Playlist is Incorrect
America the Beautiful is NOT on this CD. Instead a song Sticks and Stones is on the CD. Totally misleading.

My mother loves Ray Charles
I bought this one for myself. I already bought another copy of this one for my mother because she was a big fan of Ray Charles. She is, but not for his famous songs like Hit The Road Jack, but for his rendition of The Beatles song Eleanor Rigby! She bought an album of Portrait Of Ray. It didn't have any of his famous recordings or songs except for Eleanor Rigby! She bought Portrait Of Ray because of Eleanor Rigby!! I found Portrait Of Ray was out of print!! So when I ran across this one at Sam Goody, I found Eleanor Rigby on it. So I bought it for her birthday! I wanted another one for myself so bought mine online from you!!

Not complete, but a good selection
This record doesn't have all of Ray's greatest hits, but it does have most of them. If you're looking for the early songs he released on Atlantic, you won't find them. But most of the songs you heard on the radio in the 1950's and 1960's are here. There are even a few songs from live album releases which are refreshing changes from the standards. If you're looking for an encyclopedic collection of Ray's works, you have other choices. If you want a one-disk collection which will keep you humming and singing along, this is a good start.

Ray did it better
I wanted a recording of a particular song, "I don't need no Doctor". Ray did it better than all the British White Boys. I listened to that song, as well as the rest of the record. Loved it all.

The American Story Pure and Simple
With his story of struggle for freedom, dignity, and overcoming adversity, no one is more American than the African American. Ray Charles distills and delivers this message with a quiet power, gentleness, grace, and humility, especially when he sings "America the Beautiful" and "Georgia On My Mind." He has left us now, but not before giving us an enduring expression of who we are and who we can aspire to be. If you are any young American unfamiliar with Ray Charles' work, know that his art is part of who you are.

What a voice
A great collection from a music pioneer who pushed the envelope and did so many different types of music. There were some things I didn't care for like "Here We Go Again" & "Busted" but mostly it's a good collection of music.

Non a caso "The Genius"
Un'antologia molto buona con i brani più conosciuti di Ray Charles insieme ad altri che non avevo mai sentito. A cavallo tra vari generi musicali, l'ascolto di Ray Charles dovrebbe essere obbligatorio per gli amanti della musica
