Romy and Michele's High School Reunion

I thought ROMEY & MICHELLES HIGH SCHOOL REUNION was an awesome hilarious movie about 2 not so bright Southern Californian blondes who attend their 10-year class reunion in Tucson who have nothing special or remarkable to share with their former classmates at the reunion, but Romey & Michelle(Mira Sorvino, Lisa Kudrow)end up getting their little sweet revenge on all the people who wronged them in high school at the conclusion of this movie when Romey & Michelle make up and put an end to their differences with a great happy ending of this movie when Romey & Michelle start a clothing business in L.A. along with the fact that justice gets served when Romey & Michelle get their little sweet revenge against the ruthless & snotty gals who picked on them all throughout high school and against the popular jock boy who stood Romey up on prom night in the Spring of 1987. ROMEY & MICHELLE'S HIGH SCHOOL reunion also plays a lot of cool classic songs from the 1980's like TURNING JAPANESE by The Vapors, KARMA CHAMELEON by Culture Club, OUR LIPS ARE SEALED by The Go Go's, I WANT CANDY by Bow Wow Wow, HEAVEN IS A PLACE ON EARTH by Belinda Carlise, EVERYBODY HAVE FUN TONIGHT by Wang Chung, WE'VE GOT THE BEAT by The Go Gos, etc., plus Romey & Michelle's High School Reunion was also like a movie that took us back to memory lane on life in the 80's. The only thing that sucked was in this movie they played the songs FOOTLOOSE by Kenny Loggins and DON'T GET ME WRONG by The Pretenders, which are 2 classics from the 1980's that I really liked, but unfortunately neither song came out on either of the ROMEY & MICHELLE'S movie soundtracks that were released on CD back in the Spring of 1997 when this movie was released in the theatres by May of '97. I also think this was Lisa Kudrows best performance in all the movies she's ever done and was even more impressive than her ditzy Pheobe Buffay character on FRIENDS.

I rented this to watch with my 15 year old and I was hoping it would hold up. I remember thinking it was so funny when it came out and used to quote “Tucson, here we come!” on a consistent basis. I was so happy to hear her busting up laughing. Such a cute movie if you want a lighthearted comedy.

I remembered liking this movie years ago when it first came out, but hadn't seen again in all the years since. This Blu-ray release gave me a good excuse to watch it again and I'm very glad that I did. Romy and Michelle was still a very fun film to watch, even after all these years. Mira Sorvino was just incredible, absolutely inspired, as half of this pair of ditsy airheads with a flair for fashion--and Lisa Kudro and she both had fantastic chemistry together. They were the perfect two actresses to play these very funny, utterly clueless yet thoroughly endearing characters. The story is simple: Romy and Michelle are two underachieving girls having loads of fun, utterly clueless that their unsuccessful lives are anything but great until, in preparation for their 10 year high school reunion, they fill out a questionnaire about their lives since high school and realize that on paper they look like a pair of losers. It is the first time that they've ever looked at themselves objectively and the first time thoughts of being anything but great has ever so much as crossed their minds. Embarrassed to have others think of them as losers, the two of them hatch a plot to masquerade at their reunion as successful businesswomen (claiming to have invented Post-its) in order to impress the clique of girls who made fun of them back in their high school days. Need it be said that once they're at the reunion things don't come off exactly as planned--and that's where some of the fun comes in. I won't say more in deference to those who haven't seen the movie yet. I have to admit that I really enjoyed watching these two actresses performing together once more after all this time and that I laughed as hard as I do with most comedies made today. The filmmakers said they had a second Romy and Michelle film ready to go, but the studio said no to a sequel--even though the first film made money at the box office. Touchstone's complete lack of interest, with no explanation offered, came as a shock and was an utter mystery to them. It's really too bad we weren't treated to more of these two crazily funny and entertaining character's stories--they might have become a very successful franchise. I certainly would have loved to see more of them myself. Even though I enjoyed the movie and highly recommend it, I must report, though, that the Blu-ray appeared a little soft looking. Although it looks better than the DVD, this disc was not at the sharpness and clarity level I'm used to from Blu-ray. The color was really very good and the audio was an improvement over the DVD, but the lack of crisp sharpness on my 65 inch TV is a real head scratcher. Maybe they overdid it with the grain reduction/noise reduction. Who knows? It's certainly a little below par for a Blu-ray from Disney home video. But slightly soft picture aside, I'm extremely glad I bought it and if you get a chance to see this fun and funny movie, do take advantage of the opportunity. It certainly has it's share of hilarious moments. I'm so glad that this Blu-ray gave me a good reason to spend some time with these two very funny and highly enjoyable characters once more. I won't let so many years pass without a visit with Romy and Michelle again.

Era da tempo che desideravo il DVD di questo divertentissimo film! La trama è molto simpatica, in sintesi 2 grandi amiche dalle scuole superiori sanno della riunione dei 10 anni per festeggiare il loro diploma, guardando indietro si rendono conto che non hanno avuto un gran successo nella loro vita rispetto ai loro compagni, ed una volta arrivate alla riunione hanno delle belle sorprese! Il DVD ha 3 lingue incluso l'italiano, purtroppo nessun contenuto speciale!

Una pelicula muy divertida para los que les guste la comedia, las actrices lo clavan, pasas un rato divertido y entretenido. La recomiendo

First off if your wanting to by this but unsure of region codes don't worry its region free :) The picture quality is amazing giving that it came out so long ago Extras are a mini featurette and a trailer but bear in mind this film did come out before DVD let alone blu ray Love Lisa Kudrow and this film!!!

LOVE THE FILM!!!I LOVE IT BECAUSE THE'BAD GIRLS' GET THEIR COMEUPPANCE AND THE 'PUT-UPONS' COME OUT ON TOP----GREAT!!!STORY==2 GIRLS WHO WERE A BIT 'KOOKIE' AT SCHOOL ARE INVITED TO A HIGH SCHOOL REUNION'.THEY DO OF COURSE MEET THEIR TORMENTORS AND FEEL THEY MUST MAKE A STORY UP OF HOW SUCCESSFUL THEY HAVE BECOME----IT IS EASILY PROVED THEY HAVEN'T BEEN THAT SUCCESSFUL AND DECIDE JUST TO BE THEMSELVES.THE TORMENTORS HAVEN;'T BECOME AS SUCCESSFUL AS THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE GOING TO BE----AND SO, OUR TWO 'HEROINES' COME OUT ON TOP.THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE AND RECOMMENDED.
