Great little book, not too academic and with clear illustrations. Would recommend to anyone who is after a basic but not too in depth knowledge of perspective. Great little book as are most of this series.

Not happy
I have most of the other books in this series and they are very good. This one however has some major flaws. The words are highlighted in yellow, some impossible to read and a lot don't make sense. I'm addition the content, though well illustrated, does not not flow well for me.I might be missing something but I would sample before you buy. Thumbs down from me.

Useful introduction to the subject.
I was shown this book by a member of the bookshop staff during a recent visit to the National Gallery in London. It’s a delightful gem! Whilst not comprehensive - and the book doesn’t claim to be - this is an excellent introduction, particularly to perspective, be it one point, two or three point perspective. As such I would recommend this book.Having taught the theory and practice perspective over many years, I know how difficult it can be to grasp the fundamentals of this important and necessary topic for artists and illustrators, etc (and even art historians, such as when it comes to understanding compositions from the Renaissance, etc). Having a useful introduction such as this book will help students to gain an appreciation as a starting point to more in-depth studies. The choice of illustrations, especially those that apply to perspective, have been well chosen. I particularly liked those that put the application of perspective into historical context, which helps introduce the development of perspective as applied in fine art.I have not awarded five stars because the title implies that perspective is an optical illusion, when it isn’t. Perspective is how we see the world. It allows us, subconsciously in most cases, to understand distance, depth, scale, Nature, and much else besides. If the author had concentrated her efforts on perspective alone, and written a second, separate book, on optical illusions then she would have achieved much more.Furthermore, the brief pieces on shadows, light and firm also deserve their own dedicated book. Collectively, light and shade in art is known as sciagraphy. Whilst there is a clear connection between the shape and form of shadows and perspective - the latter determines the former - it would have been so much more useful fir aspiring artists if the author had written a separate book on the subject of sciagraphy.Notwithstanding my criticisms, I would recommend this book to anyone who wishes to have a basic understanding of perspective, even if such readers have no intention of drawing or painting themselves!

Beautiful to hold and look at
These are good and beautifully produced little books full of hitherto unknown things, by me at least.

No much in this book
I was too late to return it, or I would have.

Valuable information in a beautiful format
Upon first inspection, I realized some of the material in this book had been drawn from Fred Dubery's fine publication Perspective and Other Drawing Systems. Then I saw the author had in fact worked with her teacher Mr. Dubery, so I am happy it has his blessing. This is an excellent concise foundation course in seeing and perspective drawing (I especially appreciated the inclusion of rare four and five point systems), as well as an effective compendium of other projection systems. There is more substance in this book, more direct visual information, than many other bulkier, stuffier efforts. Why confuse the issue? Get to the point and pick this little book up.

I’m hoping I can get help on this, the text is all highlighted in yellow and much of the text is garbled and missing! What can I do to get this fixed?
