Amazon Ads for Authors: Tips and Strategies to Sell Your Books

Great resource
What a great thorough book about creating your own Amazon ads for your books. Amazon ads are very difficult to master, and there are no magic formulas, but Deb Potter pretty much covers everything – choosing keywords, categories, bids, types of ads, reports, resources, ads in other regions, if you’re not getting impressions or sales, etc. Though I haven’t put this new information to the test yet.

Excellent resource, straight to the point
I wrote my first book 3 years ago but was too daunted by Amazon Advertising to use it. I’m going to republish an updated version of that (non fiction) book and also keep working on my second (non fiction) book. This resource has inspired me to do more with Amazon. Thanks Deb!

All Amazon Ads books have value, this is a good one
This is more like a reference book, and may be better in print, but is a must read for authors just getting to know and refine Amazon Ads. I found some of the author’s articles difficult to follow without rereading, multiple times, but it is a good read. I have several of these types in my library and will be reading comparable books. I am glad I purchased and will be referring to it again.

Finally a book on Amazon ads worth reading!
I've been advertising my children's books on Amazon for 3 years with modest success. I've tried advice from dozens of authors, both free articles and paid products. This is the best resource by far!Deb Potter is an entertaining writer who really knows this subject. Having a technical marketing background myself, I really appreciated her honest and genuine approach to marketing--stay focused on what the customer needs and try your best to match your books to ones who might actually want them.Great for beginners because she explains ever step clearly, but crammed with excellent advice even for advanced advertisers. Warning: you may find that you were listening to a lot of bad advice and must start some ads from scratch. Finally, it will all make sense!

From the general to the specific
I am the author of a fiction series. I who have never paid much attention to Amazon advertising beyond running a few automatic targeting sponsored products ads which have never done much. I know, I know, I'm an idiot. I spend all my time writing and very time thinking about how to sell the books I write. But one day, I decided to try to figure out why my amazon ads don't produce much, so I bought a few kindle books about advertising through Amazon. One was a complete waste of time, the majority weren't very good, one was not bad, and this one was terrific! It contains lots of basic information to help dumb smacks such as I, and also incredibly detailed analytical tools and strategies. As soon as I finish book eight in my series, which shouldn't be too long now, I am going to spend some time developing a series advertising program. Thank you to this wonderful, knowledgeable author for all the guidance.

Clear, concise, actionable advice from someone with experience
In a space where so many people profess to be marketing or business experts, it's always good to hear from someone who isn't just pontificating from the sidelines, but is actually down in the trenches alongside the rest of us, making it work. Potter's track record clearly indicates that she's figured out how to make AMS ads work very profitably, so it's great to get to lift the lid on her process.I've highlighted so much stuff in this book that's made me go 'ah-ha' - really helpful and practical advice. I even found some helpful general business nuggets in there, such as Potter's idea of keeping a monthly diary.Cannot recommend more highly.

Exciting and terrifying all at once (in a good way)
Confession: I showed up looking for a book on Amazon Ads by another writer because it was recommended by a book marketing writer I trust. I checked out that other book, but I bought Deborah’s because she noted in the description that it has been updated. That seemed critical to me as I know this stuff changes all the time. Her information appears very complete and the examples thorough. I’ve only read through once, and I’m not quite clear on bidding or how in the heck to figure out if my ads might be profitable— but I’m looking at this as a searchable reference, not something I have to understand right away. Anxious but excited to start running ads. Really like Deborah’s friendly, savvy voice.

A ton of great detail
Wow. Lots of info in here. I’m just getting started, and this was what I was looking for. The lists of suggestions in the back look great; running ads and selling books seems to be about experimentation, and boy, is there a lot of suggestions for what to try.
