It Holds the Top Up
I used this on a toy box so the lid wouldn’t fall down. It works great. If you put the lock on it keeps the lid from closing.

It's what I wanted, but quality is lacking.
Was contemplating between 2 & 3 stars, so call it a 2.5 . 1st, they don't mention how big the actual item is, only the packaging. Fortunately, it was indeed as big as it appeared in the picture, so it is about optimal length (~6" plus brackets FYI). Now for the bad : the 2 brackets are mounted w/ different types of screws - countersunk & flush; that's just sloppy, poor design (maybe to save $ using "generic" parts?) IMO. The major complaint is that one screwhead broke off while tightening it. Didn't take much force & one would hope that the head would strip before it sheered off (the advantage of Phillips vs other head designs). Other than that, it serves its purpose & looks nice. Remains to be seen how durable it is.

need 2 of these for a duet-size bench
Needs more info in the directions, like best mounting angle. It's trial and error to get it to slide in properly without brace hitting bottom of tray inside.

It is NOT MADE OF BRASS Material. It is Steel.
I needed a friction slide for an outdoor camera mount. I scoured the many, many listings for one made of brass, so it would not rust in the weather. All but one stated Material: Steel, with a brass "finish".This one states in the title "Both Sides Brass". In the third line of the description is states "Material: Brass". It does say brass plated later in the description. For $4.59, I took a chance that the material, as stated, was brass.IT IS NOT BRASS. IT IS STEEL. FAILURE!

Ok but Overpriced
Very simple design for toy chest. The last inch or so of downward travel it basically releases and loses friction i.e. falls. Stamped metal painted brass should be about 5 bucks.
