Sun King Pico Portable Solar Lantern

I am a night shift nurse in home care. I needed a portable light to read and chart by, and to use to check the client and to prepare medications and treatments by. I have had this lantern for almost six months, it travels back and forth all over the place, gets banged up, dropped, and keeps working great. I have not had to baby it at all. The stand has held up too, and the lamp easily detaches if needed. The button to turn it on and adjust the settings is easy to use and is sturdy. The medium setting keeps the light bright enough for me to read by the entire night. It is a nice soft light, easy on the eyes, but plenty bright enough. I can direct the light so it doesn't bother the client.I received this lamp in the middle of winter, and I live in the rainy dark Pacific Northwest, so charging it in the sunlight wasn't an option. However it charges up nicely when I hang it a few inches away from an electric light bulb (checked to make sure it wasn't too close to burn it). No batteries, hooray! It is easy to tell when it is charged with the rapid pulsing. The few times I was able to charge it in the sun it charged up even faster.I am going to order another one as a backup. It is a bargain for this price. And no, I am not compensated in any way whatsoever for this review. I just like this lamp so much I just wanted to help others who are looking for such an item. And to give major kudos to Greenlight Planet for producing something this useful, safe and practical for use around the entire world.Update: I have been using this lamp for over a year and a half now, and ordered two more. One was destroyed by my mistake, I hung it too close to a bulb and it melted! And it won't charge with an LED light bulb but only the incandescent old fashioned light bulb (hence the heat and melting), so I keep one incandescent lamp in my home for charging purposes. I work 50 hours a week and only charge it once or twice a week (and probably could even less but I'm cautious). I keep the other as a backup, but have never needed it. Of the two I have left, one takes two instead of one click of the button to turn on, but other than that, they both still work great, and I really beat them up, schlepping them around in my bag. They have so improved the quality of my work life.

I haven't had it long enough to really give it a great review. So far it works as stated. It will shine all night long and easily recharge the next day. I bought several to give for Christmas presents. For what they cost they seem to be a good deal.

This is my second sun king light. My first one I’ve had going on five years now and it still works great. I’ve used other products like bio light, but bio light really can’t hold a candle to the sun king when it comes to backpacking especially when you’re in monsoon season as the sun king can. Easy to charge an extremely durable. The sun king I still use every day and night to replace regular lighting.

Sadly, this did not even work at ‘1’ for me. I live in FL and bought it for hurricane season. Lucky for me, I have not needed it so far this year. I thought I was going to need it, but the last hurricane got stuck over the Bahamas. I waited too long to test it. I pretty much figured it would be just fine. It wasn’t.

Works fine. Not bright enough

Had it for about 6 weeks. Feels like a good quality and solid sturdy thing, when you hold it. Looks contemporary kind of cool on a night stand, plus alarm clock fits right in the middle of its metal stand! Has 3 settings for brightness. Will give enough light for 1-2 people to read, in close proximity, so it is kinda a small thingy. Metal stand comes off, and it has some kind of a build in connector, so you can hang it, if needed. Charges fast in our lousy upstate NY sun, and holds charge well: lasts 3-5 days with a moderate use. Great thing to remind kids of the natural resources.

We use these every evening to provide just enough light. Recharge about once a week on a sunny day. For reading or sewing, you'll probably need the higher settings, which naturally run down sooner, but after 3 years of almost daily use, the first one still works well, looks fine, and seems to hold a charge. Nice to know: during our cold, wet winters, the lamp will usually charge "enough" for an evening of use after a day indoors on a sunny windowsill.

After a couple years with one, I bought a second, to always have one charged. Midwest winters can go for days without sunshine. The stand is stable, or can be used to hang it, like when charging in the window. I use it as a reading light in bed. Has 3 brightness settings. Reliable, sturdy and lightweight.

These are brilliant. I first used them on Bardsey Island where they had no electricity and thought they were so good I bought some for a friend who was living 'off grid' and he's found them useful.

Being a night owl and having a habit of light reading before hitting the bed was looking for a small and portable lamp for ages. I use Pico Plus in the kitchen for chopping salad for midnight snacking when everyone is asleep or use it for reading in the bed without disturbing wife with a bright light. Here's what I like about this product:- Pico Plus comes with a multi-functional detachable stand which helps in using the product like a table lamp which can be tilted in any direction or can be used to hang it at different surfaces.- Pico Plus has 3 brightness mode that allows me to set the brightness as per the need. I use the low power mode as a night lamp and normal and turbo modes for reading.- Back up seems decent, have been using at Normal mode for last 4-5 days for 1-2 hrs at night and have charged it only once on the day it has arrived. Best light for study in emergency light out and for camping. Enough light for small area and good build up quality.

Light to carry, good light to read by or work by, charges well in the sun. I use it camping and also at home to read in bed as my normal bedside light is broken.

Purchased this in 2016 during emergency or long power cuts, it really a very cute solar light, u can tel by touching it that it is a top notch quality, quantity of light is low in low mode but other two modes produce sufficient light to lit up a small room u can easily study under it. Solar panels is good quality one it can charge it pretty fast, it worked well for 8 years build quality is solid and sturdy, u can go for it.
