thank you for a dream come true
Hello Skipjack...Received my book today The Junks and Sampans of the Yangtze. This is a collectors item and going to be the perfect Christmas gift for my boyfriend. We own a 55 foot,77,000 pound, Built on the Yantze River Chinese Junk. The gentelman we bought it from told me I had to have this book, so thank you for having it to purchase. It came in a very timely manner, and is more perfect than i thought. It will be a treasure for us forever. FIVE STARS and Happy Holidays....

Long-Vanished Boats with Cultural Notes
This is the standard English language work on the subject. The author's asides on general Chinese culture may be of interest even for a general audience. The U.S. Naval Institute reprint is beautifully executed.

Marvellous Work on a Lost World
Worcester was in the River Inspectorate of the Chinese Maritime Customs prior to the Second World War and became an expert on the the local river craft. This is his most comprehensive book on the subject, with his excellent drawings and calligraphy.

A basic text for boat technology and model building
You cannot simply read this book, or take as a reference source, which it is as well. I's made for building and comparing ship building technologies. Not very rich in historical information, it's minutely detailed as for tools and craft. Precious for model shipwrights, along with "Sail and Sweep in China", same author. You catch the taste of old style written books to operate your wits and hands, machines being so simple or missing.Covers a somewhat "untreaded region" of watercraft knowledge and modelling. Fundamental, in my opinion. You could disdain other books on the subject, save this one.
