Great help
I work with a lot of documents and have a very hard time reading, this magic little device has helped my life tremendously. I wish I had out of it sooner I knew about it sooner. It definitely makes my life a lot easier. Would recommend it to any parent or anybody that has a difficult time reading. I have used it on documents paper and also the computer screen I have not yet tried it on my phone but I'm sure it will read it just as well as it did the computer.

Amazing little device
I've been very impressed with this little device. I had tried various software apps to scan and read text, but they all suffered two limitations. First, they generally would not properly read text in multiple columns, but would just read all the way across the page as if the columns were not there. Secondly, they were too complicated for my tech-challenged, visually-impaired wife to use.The Orcam, on the other hand, is dead simple as well as lightweight. You point it at the page and click the button. That's it. Within a few seconds, the device starts reading the page. There is a more complicated Smart mode which costs about another $200, which we did buy, but I'm not sure it was worth it for basic reading. The only tricky part is knowing how to aim the camera. The Reader projects a frame around the nominal reading area, but not until you actually click the button. It does seem to read some distance beyond the frame, though, so the positioning is not critical. The frame may also be hard for visually impaired people to see (my wife can't see it).The reading accuracy is excellent. Notably, for good or bad, all the processing is done within the unit itself, without requiring an online connection. You can't adjust any OCR or text-to-speech parameters, but that fits with the goal of total simplicity. Of course, you can adjust the speech rate.Whether it's worth the cost depends on your resources and alternatives. If you're doing fine with phone apps or another solution, this may be overkill. But for someone who needs maximum functionality with minimal complexity, this is the best I've found.

They hide the instructions but once you find them it wonderful.
I finally found instructions. It was easy to setup. Will make reading enjoyable again. Don’t worry about tech support google the version you have and you tube instructions are great. I got version 9.0 am 71 finally finishing my BSN. If I can do this you can to.

Stop working
My OrCam completely stop working four months after I bought it. It started out saying light is to low then it would say that it was to far away. Eventually it just stop working all together. I was in the middle of a move and had to sign important paperwork when it quit working all together. Waist of money.

Good for teenage or adults with dyslexia, child user's may have difficulty with its use.
Left-handed and children under 10 may have difficulty with the product due to hand-eye co-ordination.It may be possible to change the audible text reading but for the unit I purchased speech playback was too fast.

Not what you expect
First, Amazon raised the price of this by about $1,000 during the last month OraCa has it cheaper and if you want one, I'd order from them My husband is older and has trouble reading even with glasses, so I hoped this would be something to help him It's not While trying it out for myself, prior to having him operate it I found that it would not read text unless it is large black print on a white page, near a window It gave me many message errors regarding text and light The volume does not turn up loud enough for us older folks Also, even when reading the text along with the machine, I found that it read too fast and did not pronounce words correctly I really wanted this to work I am returning it per mfg instruction via UPS, but I am wondering if I should have mailed it, insured with RR request I hope this doesn't cause a problem If you want to try it, good luck

Very good product but instructions are poor.
The only difficulty that I have with this product is that instructions that come with the Orcam Read and videos were not particularly helpful. Took a lot of poking around to find out how to slow it down so I could understand the instructions and menus. Even though my eyesight is fairly good, it makes reading much better especially since everything is printed with fonts smaller than 4!
