My kitty is small for a cat (4 lbs) and the equivalent of maybe a 6-8 month old in size. This collar fits her perfectly.1) The clasp is 100% break away (which it didn’t look like in the product photo)2) The silk is SO light weight- it feels like nothing in my hands (which has to be so much more comfortable for her) while still being so durable feeling. It’s a tube instead of a strip, so it also isn’t rubbing her fur the way normal collars do.3) the bell tinkles, it’s a prettier sound than a normal cat bell (also hard for her to walk quietly in- so I always hear her even though she’s normally good at hiding her bell sounds)4) after seeing how well made it was, I ordered more of them for other pets I know, and a second one to wear on my wrist that matches my cat’s because it’s so soft, light weight, and cute.

LOOOVE this beautiful lightweight Necoichi Chirimen collar for my kitten. It's so lightweight it does not bother the kitten to wear it. (It is her first collar.) It lays nicely on her neck and she hasn't fought it. The collar is easily adjustable and will be made wider as my kitten grows. The bell hangs like a beautiful piece of jewelry.This Japanese crafted collar is made with Kimono fabric sewn into a tube. The added safety release adds some weight to the collar but not by much. It's light on the neck where it doesn't annoy the kitten to wear. However the bell chime has some weight to it, she could feel that and has tried to lick it off. I had to make sure the collar was fitted enough where she couldn't get her mouth on it and end up with a gagged mouth, but at the same time safely slip two fingers under the collar so I know it's not choking her. So far so good. The collar is easy to adjust with minimal fuss.The kitten and I are very happy with the collar. Not only is it beautiful and wears like Japanese style fashion jewelry, it's super comfortable as well. I'm glad I spent the extra dollars to get this collar. It's worth every penny.

I got this collar for my 4-month old Ragdoll kitten, Sora. I actually found another Necoichi collar that I really wanted for him but thought this might be better for him (for now) considering his age and that he has never worn a collar before.When I first put it on him, he was startled by the bell sounds following him for a good minute but that's about it. He got used to it rather quickly and doesn't really mess with it on purpose which is a relief. Last thing I wanted was for him to try and tear and bite it off.Anyway, what I really like about this collar (besides the bell which isn't only pretty with a pleasant ring to it but also helps me locate Sora when he's off prowling about the house) is the weight. The material isn't only soft but it's also super light which I think is good for kittens. Less strain on their tiny necks.But as other reviewers pointed out, the knots do loosen overtime. It isn't so bad though. Sora has worn this collar for 3 days now and I only adjusted it once the first day and not because I had to. I only adjusted it to see if it was actually loose and to reinforce the knot "just in case" since I didn't bother tightening it before I put the collar on him. Just be sure to tighten the knotted part and you should be good and maybe check it every so often if you think its gotten too loose. Even if it loosens over time, I don't see it actually coming off unless your cat actually tries to remove the collar.

(Pros and cons at the bottom) This collar is absolutely adorable! The design and bell are lovely. It’s lightweight and perfect for smaller cats. The fabric is silky and slightly rough to the touch. I haven’t had any problems with rips, tears, or breaking, but I’m skeptical of the sturdiness. It’s very lightweight so there’s a possibility for the aforementioned tears or rips and I will update the review if there are any problems in the future. The tightening mechanism is something I haven’t seen before and while it’s convenient, it also allows for sliding if the cat managed to get their paw in it. That’s a great mechanism for breakaway/safety, but it also allows for the collar to get stuck under the cat’s leg and around the neck, which has unfortunately happened once already. It hasn’t happened again so I’m not terribly worried yet, but it is definitely something to look out for. Due to the potential lack of sturdiness (thin fabric), risks, and size, I think this collar is a little pricey. But it certainly is beautiful and I would recommend it for cats used to wearing a collar (who wouldn’t attempt to take it off).Pros:- lightweight- beautiful designs- smooth fabric- breakaway mechanismCons:- potential rips and tears- risk of getting stuck/wrapped if cat attempts to get it off- relatively easy to take off- not terribly sturdy

Purchased two of these collars for my new kittens (8mos, ~7-8lbs mixed Manx) hoping they might last through a growth spurt or two. After a month I am surprised to find that after plenty of neck scratches and the occasional chewing, the fabric itself still looks almost new. The bells sound lovely, and the collar can adjust to a fairly large range - but keep in mind when purchasing that the pattern placement depends on how the fabric is cut (think of it like a semi-mystery pick). One arrived somewhat plain, but has a more ornate bell and compliments my Calico nicely.My kittens are able to loosen the collars themselves so they can play with the bell, so I may sew the knots temporarily in place to allow for future adjustments as they grow. I have on occasion found the collars on the ground with the breakaway feature clearly having worked, so I'm not stressing about any future accidents.

Well-made and as advertised. The last time I bought this product was 4 years ago and it held up well for my kitty.

I have to tighten this pretty often as it loosens with time. Looks great though.

Soft and comfortable around our cats neck. Adjustable too. The design is beautiful. Worth the purchase👍🏻

As others have said not quite as nice as the photo but still pretty good. My cat has very sharp claws and I was worried that she would rip it to bits while scratching but she has been wearing it for about 3 months now and it still looks good. The bell on the collar is really beautiful.
